It's actually freaky because a while ago I was taking requests for funsies and a guy came and asked if I could design him a fursona. I did and he really dug it. Anyway I go to check on the guy and he has commissioned so much porn of it :0

Usually the 'artist' or in reality, the person commissioning the artwork commissions large amounts of yiff, which obviously gets the attention of people.

I was curious about this, too. Apparently the first pieces of modern "fandom" began to coalesce in the late Victorian era (there was Sherlock Holmes fanfiction coming out when it was a new series) along with very early "furryish" stuff via Alice in Wonderland. There were Tijuana Bibles, which were basically the 1920s-1940s version of Rule 34, cheap pulp pamphlets full of explicit drawings of cartoon characters of the time, some of which were the funny animals of the time. This later became the 'zine scene, where furries really exploded in the 1960's, where from then for the next thirty years, you could find a 'zine of hardcore furry porn if you knew the right people to get on a mailing list. It moved online in the late 80's and never left us.

Anthropomorphic characters goes back way before Alice in Wonderland. You can find characters with jackal heads in mythology dating thousands of years ago. You can also find anthropomorphic characters in the Bible.

I don't really consider many of these early examples of anthropomorphic characters part of "furry fandom". "furry fandom" as it is now mostly started in the 90s.

Not really drawn art but when I started to edit stories people would send me, most of it was erotic and fetishistic.

I don't really want to talk about it in detail here but one piece I remember was scat.

I have a beautiful story that several kiwis were there to witness and it was the funniest shit for like 3 months
K so I was doing a request stream with a bunch of kiwis including Null, Katsu and some other people like I think there was 3 other people there in a skype call not including me. Some dude came in and gave me this incredibly specific request. He literally sent me this to draw "Draw Maid Marian (from the Disney Robin Hood) and Skippy (some rabbit kid from the same movie) playing NO DIRTY STUFF but Maid Marian has been shrunken down to Skippy's size and all her clothes are too big and her shoes are floppy because they don't fit her feet.

I tried to emulate the look of the rabbit kid's eyes and ears but it just looks weird as fuck
I totally knew it was a fetish thing but everyone in the call was having fun laughing at thus guy and they were super obviously making fun of him and he didn't fucking notice and we were all laughing and having a good time

On my trolling account on DA I was requested to draw a girl who had worms and had her legs up in the air as she rubbed her butt on the ground like dogs do when afflicted by the grimy little parasites. The requester was incredibly specific and very polite. It was one of the most fucked things I have experienced first hand. Goddamn.

Yeah it's pretty much exactly what Otterparty said where a wolf has sex in the butt with another furry, ultimately I didn't do it and it's what caused me to close my commissions for good

Someone asked me to draw their fursona with shitting dick nipples- I thought it was hilarious.

Otherwise, the worst I've ever had to deal with was an infamous requester named Andrew Rinaldi, who's understanding of the English language could be boiled down to "Hey, it me Andrew, draw me like tiger ok" followed by an image pack of himself that included nudes.
