Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

The 20th century called, they're in desperate need of techno-utopian fiction authors. I dunno what planet you're on but "diminishing returns" has been the watchword for a while now, though it's only recently become difficult to hide the fact that no, technology won't just magically transcend all physical barriers, and more importantly, high technology seems to have a degenerative effect on humans (and our primitive humanoid brethren).
Well Social media isnt high tech, its just a place to scream at each other, the high tech behind it is the data mining.

You're not wrong on the oil and petro thing, but I guess I don't really see "we have enough moderately affordable oil for 100 years based on these projections" as a huge win. In fact, that prediction seems to foreshadow a massive technological upset, if not a collapse, in a relatively short amount of time.
The amount of Oil and Oil like substances is just soo vast that we can not consume all of it in a short periode of time. we are also maybe just a few hundred million of people. the majority of people is not able to consum oil in a meaningfull amount. Tech is also lowering oil consumption every year and we are already pretty much to the maximum of what we can consume.
2 or more Cars per Family are normal, heating is maxed out, etc. You can drive a bigger car, but even those consume less oil than midsized cars 30 years ago.
Next step is hybrids and EVs, changing your Cars into a Hybrid and an EV has positive impact on you and your community and is the natural development.
You only need one long Range Car in the Family and you can get pretty much every bigger car as a hybrid(atleast in Europe) for short trips. that cuts down Oil consumption alot.

How do you conserve fuel on a plane? Shut it off mid flight and glide?
If I'm not mistaken, the quantity of fuel is based on the amount of weight that the plane will transport, so maybe less cargo, less people on board or they will start to ask americans obese people to pay more.

They don't say exactly where it is happening.

Indeed, as a stutterer, I frequently babble and lose track of what I was just talking about.
Though you're not the president I assume.
My kingdom for a horrifying rating
Nigga, we're all on lists already. Most of us likely before KF.
All the shit they accused Trump of, they adopted it themselves lol.
The right side of history ™ says it's awwwright when we do it.

The meme man himself has spoke. Hopefully he's doing well after his stroke.
I don't give a fuck you posted first, there's never enough happening

Oh! Okay, I do remember reading something about this.

Will a passenger weight check be part of the pre-flight experience? No way, airlines say.
Airlines were required to submit updated estimates of passenger weight last weekend, the FAA says

Air travelers are used to indignities: long security lines, minimal legroom, crowded overhead bag storage, unruly fellow passengers.

So it seemed a bridge too far when headlines started to suggest a new ordeal could be on the way: “Airlines could start weighing passengers before boarding,” the New York Post said.

The notion, which was widely circulated on travel sites and blogs last month, was grounded in some reality. The Federal Aviation Administration had put out an advisory circular two years earlier that “stressed the importance that airline weight and balance programs accurately reflect current passenger weights,” the agency said in a statement. The deadline for that updated accurate reflection was June 12.

That means carriers needed to update the estimates they used for how much passengers and their luggage weighed, given the reality that, on average, Americans have gotten heavier. The FAA said one way to do that was to use the actual weight of the flying public by putting each traveler on a scale before boarding or asking passengers their weight (and estimating the reality if someone was suspected of fibbing).

Airlines could also use average weights of passengers based on government health surveys. Not surprisingly, they are opting for the latter.

30 observations from my first vaccinated flight

Thomas Anthony, director of the University of Southern California’s Aviation Safety and Security Program, said weighing passengers would be “arduous, difficult” and impractical.

“We want people to move through the terminal with the least amount of, let’s say, disruption and nuisance,” he said.

Most large U.S. carriers had little to say about the updated weight estimates, though all of those that responded to the question from The Washington Post said they would not be weighing passengers. The FAA said in a statement Wednesday that it was reviewing airlines’ submissions.

Only American Airlines, which had its plan approved and started using updated averages on June 8, would talk numbers. The carrier said its estimates now say the average body weight for passengers is 182 pounds in summer and 187 pounds in winter, which is eight pounds heavier than previous estimates. Carry-on bags will count as five pounds heavier, and checked bags will gain four pounds in the estimates, spokeswoman Sarah Jantz said in an email.

Airlines say they don’t expect the updated estimates to change anything meaningful — or anything at all — about the travel experience. Delta said its plan would “minimize any potential impact to our customers.”

Hawaiian Airlines changed its seating policy, citing increased passenger weight. Critics say it’s discriminatory.

Alaska Airlines said any impact would be “negligible and would only affect select long-haul routes during headwind conditions.”

JetBlue spokesman Derek Dombrowski said in a statement this week that the airline had turned its updated data in to the FAA and would continue to work with the agency to finalize its plan.

“We do not anticipate any impact to our customers’ experience as a result of these required weight revisions, and at this time we have no imminent changes to report regarding adjustments to our baggage policies,” he said in a statement.

While Anthony, who teaches about aviation safety, agreed that the updated weight estimates should be “invisible to the average passenger,” he said it was important for airlines to work with the most accurate information about how much weight a plane is carrying.

“For all critical stages of flight, you want to have an accurate estimation of the weight and balance of the aircraft,” he said.

The only thing I can think of is that airline companies are going to be encouraged to not fill every seat on their planes, but good luck with that.

They don't say exactly where it is happening.
Or the number of casualties, if any.

Remember, the definition of a "school shooting" is any time a firearm is discharged on school grounds. This includes:
  • A bullet from an off-campus scuffle hitting a window
  • Some guy plinking on the football field at 3 am
  • The school cop having a negligent discharge
  • A kid becoming An Hero in the bathroom
We all know why they do it: they seek to create the image that there's a Parkland happening every day.

I am generally on board with this line of thought, which is why I also support renewable fuel research. Never make bets with money you don't have in hand, and the more you diversify your options the harder it is to severely inconvenience you.
We could have essentially free energy if people would just accept nuclear power is the future. Chernobyl only happened because of shitty Russian construction workers cutting corners. Disposing of nuclear waste is as simple as firing rockets of it to the moon.

Out of curiosity, Obama had 8 years to deliver change and was a resounding disappointment, how come that didn't galvanise activists on the Dem's side to take initiative in the same way?

Because the other side of Obama was Hillary, pure and simple. The corrupt bargain where Hillary would be Obama's successor not Biden handcuffed the left, especially since they fell for the "changing demographics" meme meant it was OK for Obama to kill the 50 state policy of Howard Dean, meaning that the Democrats saw massive losses on the state leve, combined with Hillary having spent the Obama years slowly moving the party apparatus to the singular goal of getting her elected in 2016.

Also, it did galvanize activists but the result of that was people like Uygar and the Justice Democrats unleashing AOC and the squad upon humanity.

In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.

I don't think "capitol rioter" counts as a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group.

Except when the rocket fails - and it will happen at least once - that causes rather big problems.
