US Joe Biden News Megathread - The Other Biden Derangement Syndrome Thread (with a side order of Fauci Derangement Syndrome)

Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

So in other words, Trump losing might have been the best thing long term for his supporters and the GOP.

My initial perception was the RINOs would exploit Trump's loss to purge the party of his supporters, but with the way the election got drawn out and the resulting energy it looks like the opposite is occuring. Like that woman earlier getting booed, the GOP has a load of reps who are totally out of step with their own constituents and are punished for it.

Why did the Democrats want Trump gone again? If he lasted till 2024 he'd be worn out, impotent (the deep state would quite easily continue to hamstrung him for another 4 years) and his ideology would've likely died with him.

What could Joe Biden provide them that has been worth blowing all of their political capital on?

I honestly don't think they have a plan. Harris was obviously the establishment pick. But now that she's quite obviously a colossal fuckup, they're kinda panicking and not sure what the hell to do. Their best bet is to let Harris be president just long enough to name a VP (whoever the fuck that's gonna be) and get her the fuck out of office ASAP.
It would be unprecedented, but what better choice do they have? Letting Harris at the wheel for too long would be a disaster for the party.

It is very clear that their plan has gone to complete shit. The idea was to use Biden to coast Harris in and control her from the shadows. Except....

She is utterly incompetent on every level. She is woefully underqualified and is a charisma black hole. An empty suit needs to be an expensive looking suit, not a fucking garbage bag. And that's what Harris is. She can't maintain proper control, cannot lead and is clear she is unfit for office.

The problem that they have is that Biden is deteriorating much faster than they anticipated. I mean, he's fucking 78 and showing clear signs of dementia. The president, no matter how handled, is an extraordinarily stressful job that ages you. Sometimes decades. Stress adds to inflammation, which worsens dementia.

They were probably banking on Harris doing most of the heavy lifting and appearances, but she can't even handle soft-ball questions without getting defensive. She is loathed. The democrats put themselves in an awful position: they can't have Biden in forever and they can't really tell when he's going to fold in on himself. Eventually the drugs they're pumping in him will no longer have an effect and the words he says gets us (or them) into trouble. And at the same time, Harris has shown to be completely inadequate and unlikeable as his replacement. The only benefit she offers is that she's not a decaying corpse. Which is to say, not one for the dems at all. They need someone to advance their agenda, and Harris isn't it. She can't even mediate. A charisma black whole combined with a narcissistic ego along with chronic incompetence is....well, fatal. I don't know what the fuck they expected, she scored 1% in her own fucking state. And they CERTAINLY can't replace Biden, then replace Harris. Jesus. The optics on that is death.

So that is to say the Dems are between a rock and a hard place with no easy out. But fuck them, they did it to themselves because of their own greed and ego. Too bad they fucked everyone else along with them. Fucking neo-liberal scum.

My late grandfather was in a pretty nice air force retirement facility where some of the residents were pretty far gone. One day in the mess hall, one of them had a bit of a mental break and began mouthing off about his time doing reconnaissance missions over the Soviet Union. He said some stuff that may or may not be classified* and the nurses had to wheel him off. It might be optimistic as fuck, but that would be absolutely hilarious if something like that happened during on of Biden’s public appearances.

The VP had to fit a few criteria, some less obvious than others.

1: They had to be female.
2: They had to be non-white, the darker the better.
3: They had to be in a weak starting position so that they have to rely on the puppetmasters to stay in power.
4: They had to have presidential ambitions despite the above.
5: They had to be ethically skewed to accept the Corpse President.
6: They had to be legally clean, depriving Republicans of any serious ammo.

Stacey Abrams violates 6 for sure, debatably 4. The problem is they needed a candidate who fit this EXACT criteria. And there was only one option.

Say what you will about AOC or Ilhan Omar, but at least you get the sense that the socialist wing of the Democrats genuinely believe in something. I bring this up to draw a contrast with the establishment GOP faction. Having faith in the 'conservative principles' argument is immaterial when observing developments from a raw strategic viewpoint. How do the establishment GOP expect their supporters to stick with them on principle when that same establishment has failed to convey a vision beyond the status quo? They'll never match the MAGA movement's energy because their own politicians don't even seem to care that much about the bland, tired rhetoric of their ideology.

What are they conserving? Hard mode: What are they conserving that's meaningful to anyone below a 6-figure salary?

Trump's not a conservative in practice or really in theory, but at least his renegade antics offer a potential for victory. Trump offered a sketch of the type of future the country should build towards, distinct from what his predecessors and political foes offer. Meanwhile the GOP claim to be different to Democrats but adopt every narrative and piece of rhetoric from them sooner or later. This pigeonholes the country into moving forward whichever direction the Dems decide. You can either vote Democrat, or vote to ensure a couple hundred grifters who detest you enrich themselves while at best delaying Democrat policies for a few years.
