Don’t forget guys, we’re still getting another MOTU Netflix cartoon that is separate from this.
Is it wrong of me to hope that it might actually be somewhat decent? (I have heard no details on it)

Kevin really should have taken notes from that time He-man fought injustice superman.

Now that was a comic that knew how to use him wisely. Legit kickass action, dark tone and shocking violence. But it NEVER compromised who He man is. He is portrayed as the one man who can bring hope to the world of injustice.

I wholeheartely recommend it.

Its surprising in how it follows the bad ending of injustice 2 and ...
This isnt some temporary flash in the pan crossover, there is a definitive winner .

I just noticed this:

Why did they remove the Maltese cross from He-Man's chest armour and replace it with an H?
Iron Cross is a no-no for the audience, anything vaguely nazi-like is bad and it might inspire wrongthink.
I haven't watched this bullshit yet, but is it true that the greatest character in MOTU doesn't even make an appearance?

Fisto is proof that the gay guys who wrote He-Man in the 80s were clever as fuck, and actually pretty funny.
technically wrong, he's right there in the very first episode. He's there for only 10 seconds and you wont be seeing him for the rest of the 5 episodes but he's there still fisting stuff.

all 5 episodes are out on netflix, or the piratebay if thats your thing, you should watch them to be more informed on the discussion. That, or at least validate your righteous indignation with the merit of actually watched the dang shitshow.

That comic is a rollercoaster ride, very underrated read and I’m glad to see someone else who has read it.

Best part is He-Man doing the Allstar Superman moment, talking down some kid having a rough go of it and just being….. an aspiration and good, unambiguously so.

He also beats down Superman, perma-kills Darkseid, becomes Shazam, avenges Billy in the process, mercy “kills” Superman, comforts Skeletor when he dies- and gives a damn good explanation for why he doesn’t stay He-Man all the time.

If you want MOTU content, those DC comics are great. Stay away from the new stuff….. Dark Horse is it?

I'll probably watch it this weekend. All I need to know about it in order to judge it is the fact that Kevin Smith actually DID lie about it, and sent his sychophants after a couple of nobody YouTubers because they called him out on it.

Rights issues. Mattel sold the rights to the Originam HE Man TV shows (thank god) so any new shit they make with the IP has be to be slightly different. Kinda like how JJ Abrams Star Trek has to be slightly different from original star trek.

God I wonder how He-Man wikies will handle this mess.

What would they even put down for it? Can you imagine them trying to stay professional and pc when talking about this crazy shit.

I’m pretty sure most won’t even include it because of how disrespectful it is but I’m interested in the ones that will.

I for-seen those possibly pulling a Watchmen wiki and centering the whole wiki around the new woke show.

There they absolutely fucked up the whole wiki by making the blacked Watchmen front and center.

It wasn’t just the theme being change to match it, it was also wiki articles like how they only used the TV show version of Moth man (which looks absolutely atrocious by the way) in the Byron Lewis article despite the fact that the wiki is meant to be for the comics.

this is just a horrible version of transformers the movie (hell given that the kill him off twice its an even worse version of fucking headmasters)

Well, to sum up the spoiler review:

The opening episode is a gigantic Royal Rumble of characters duking it out, which ends with Skeletor tricking He-Man into stabbing him in the chest. This somehow lets him get his hands on the Sword of Power and gets control (or starts to get control) over Castle Grayskull. He-Man splits the Sword of Power to stop him, but doing that explodes both him and (apparently) Skeletor. He turns briefly into Adam while doing it and this is how Teela finds out they're the same person.

Time skip and everyone's sad. Teela ragequits because she feels betrayed and also sad over Adam. Sorceress is dying, magic is dying, and Eternia is dying. We find out Eternia is actually the lifeline of the universe. If it goes, so does everything else.

They have to find the two halves of the Sword of Power. This means going to Eternia Hell (Underworld) and Eternia Heaven (Preternia). Man at Arms can reforge the Sword of Power, but he's stuck in Grayskull as the Sorceress' only defense against the fragmented Evil Warriors. So they send Roboto with Teela because Roboto can theoretically do it too. Maybe.

Teela gets her maybe-girlfriend, Orko, Roboto, and Evil-Lyn as her Fellowship of the Ring. They go to the Underworld where Scare-Glow is guarding the evil half of the Sword of Power, and there's also a portal to Preternia. (Huh?)

Big fight happens. Scare-Glow feeds off fear, and Teela's afraid she isn't good enough, so the fight spills over into Preternia.

Orko dies in Episode 4 in a heroic sacrifice against Scare-Glow. Apparently this feels pretty "final" as deaths go. They make a grave for him in Preternia.

They find Adam hanging out in paradise with the rest of his He-Man ancestors and explain what's going on. (Moss Man is also dead and in Heaven. I don't know why.)

There is a portal back to Grayskull from Preternia (there's a portal just about anywhere in this show, apparently), but whoever goes through it can never return (isn't this All Dogs Go to Heaven?). Adam voluntarily gives up any chance to return to Preternia in order to return to Grayskull with his friends.

Roboto reforges the Sword of Power, but dies in the process. I guess this thing is a radioactive hazard or something.

Once they're in Grayskull, there's another big fight between Man at Arms and a few Evil Warriors where he basically solos them. Teela, Adam, and the group get down to the inner depths of Grayskull where Adam raises the Sword of Power to turn into He-Man...

...and Skeletor pops out of Evil-Lyn's staff, where he's actually been hiding the whole time. He stabs Adam right through the chest, possibly killing him (?). He takes the Sword of Power, holds it up, and does the famous chant:

End Part 1 on that cliffhanger. See you in, er, 6 months.
Holy crap. And I mean holy halo-hovering gospel-singing crap. Of all the media properties getting reboots that seemed fuckup-proof from the start, He-Man was definitely up there with Thundercats (we all saw how that turned out). A dorky prince turns into a moralistic barbarian for 15-30 minutes... Couldn't make it work. Had Powerhouse Animation and couldn't make it work. Had Mark Hamill and couldn't make it work. Has the damn toys selling for once and wow.

Congratulations to Powerhouse Studios only, you put diamonds on shit once again.

But didn't they make one of the main characters a lesbian that wanted to fuck a villain's shadow? (Or a new "black coded" crow girl or some shit)

That might just be a weird headcanon thing going on in the community but it's so hard to tell nowadays.
You mean Webby and Leena? No they didn't. Ask any rabid shipper and they'll say otherwise but the girls stayed friends. But that crow girl was supposed to be portrayed as the black of Ducktales universe like Gizmoduck and Gosalyn were brown ducks thus Mexican. The show had scattered pandering but was pretty good. And like another kiwi said, it had respect AND tried new things. Two things these latest reboots can't or won't figure out.

LMAO hell no. The screeching harpy and her loser husband are still annoying outrage grifters and deserve to be ridiculed. Also it's the leaks that were right. The clownfish tards just made a video about it. They shouldn't get the credit.
No shit they're grifters but they're the grifters who were right to speculate. If anything you should thank them for successfully trolling Smith into gagging on his own wokefuck tongue.

Is He-man even that masculine besides being protective, strong & looking like a bodybuilder on steroids? I didn't watch the newer series but in the 80s he was also friendly, caring, had lots of empathy etc. I'd say he is more heroic than just masculine.

Good writers don't need to do bait & switch and it's entirely possible to give Teela her own spin-off series. Call it Masters of the Universe: The adventures of Teela or something like that. But don't kill off the main character and focus entirely on a side character (and if you have to do it, not in the first season!!).
Agreed. Based on what another kiwi upthread said, Teela had some of the better episodes in the original. So it's not that she couldn't carry her own show, the showrunners counted their chickens before they hatched. Hell they killed the chicken after laying the eggs thinking it's all they needed.

An evil beefcake conquerer with a skullhead can't get laid? In a land of monsters, magic and machines??? Is that level of retardation even legal!? :cringe:

The saddest thing is in the little bit that we do get with Adam, he's super likable.

Just a sweet and humble kid. This could have been the character we focused on. Too bad.
Another day, another """female empowerment fantasy""" where in their effort to make the guy characters useless and awful, they turn out to be the most rational and likeable characters overall. Add bonus points if they're villains!

Prince Adam turns into He Man the exact same way Usagi turns into Sailor Moon.

I want the current year to be over now.
Jokes on you i'm into that shit. I can see your point though.

I agree I really do think people on here should at least apologize to ClownfishTV since it turns out that Kevin Smith "calling them out" was really Smith lying through his teeth because they were on to him and his woke shit. You don't have to agree with everything they have said. But this time I think they deserve a apology as it's clear Smith was indeed a lying tool and he went after them because they were revealing his lies.
