Didn't this Pokegirls thing start as an offshoot of the monster girls fandom? That's what I always assumed. It's basically the same thing.
Actually, no. The monster girl fandom has always been around in various forms (going all the back to ancient times if you want to get historical about it), but Pokegirls is basically a bastardized Pokemon fanfic that turned into it's own creepy little subverse of raping furry girls named after sex pun laden versions of Pokemon names.
The only overlap they have is the fact the monsters are humanoid women to some greater or lesser degree, but the origins of both fandoms come from different stock and the end result for each is completely opposite.

Monstergirls in general are a take on the ancient notion (like Cynical points out) of humans who (normally) have nonhuman traits or "accessories," but are always nonetheless not "furries" (and that's the general consensus).
Pokegirls may be derived from monstergirls, but it's far more disturbing, from what we've observed so far.

Yeah, I forgot about "Alice", she's one of the sops to the lolicons, though even that's open to interpretation depending on the portrayal of the monster girl in question (Monster Musume waters down quite a bit of the grosser aspects of the monster girl fandom, like the spider girl Rachnera is a BDSM nut at worst whereas some WESTERN works like the D&D pen and paper games have the more violent, bloodthirsty driders (spider girl). Alice herself got a portrayal where the loli look is just a thin disguise for a horrifying monster (moreso than usual) in Monster Girl Quest.
As for dominance being a species dependent trait, depends on the interpretation. The more "dark"
takes on the MG fandom have most of the character lean this way, though the lighter fare (as mentioned above) waters this down or downplays it a lot.
Pokegirls by comparison is just ubersexualized furry versions of the Pokemon, anthropomorphized into a jackoff fantasy, and the lore is usually the stock Pokemon version bastardized for lonely perverts, and they don't show a lot of imagination (you can basically guess what the "Khangascunt" is all about simply from the name). Also, any dominance in Pokegirls is basically intended for the guys, not the girls.

I don't see how any intelligent life survive, including lizard, frogs, and pigeons. Compare the disaster with dinosaur extinction. I'm must be incredibly optimistic to even have thought insects might have survived. anything multicell? doubt it.
Texas becomes Johto. No other pokemon regions to be found. No kanto connected to the Johto, but pokeballs exist? Originality is like -- words fail to be able to take a form to describe what their approach to originality is. As an adult playing through a Pokemon-style video game for the first time (late-onset autism), just the other day I started thinking there ought to be something like this. It seems inevitable to me that repetition of the scenario wherein one tries in vain to tame the beast, but after each failed attempt has to settle for killing it or letting it escape, would lead young men to think of sexual pursuits. Perhaps Pokegirls are closer to the archetype than their family-friendly inspiration.
