Also they are kinda right but I don't understand how it would be an advertisement for Rick and Morty, maybe it's a HBO Max thing but still I don't think anyone would decide to watch the show because they briefly showed up in the movie. (Also this is a kids movie at that)
Yeah, a kids' movie is the PERFECT venue to promote a scene where one of the main characters nearly gets raped by a giant jellybean.

I'm not kidding. That really happened.

I’ll never get why people hate Letterboxd so much. Even with their shitposting on popular films, they’re at least more honest than your average Hollywood movie critic.
I'm heavily considering making a thread about Letterboxd because so many Schizos, retards, and assholes use it that it could make a great thread

>live action/animated “hybrid” film
>directed by James Gunn
>written by James Gunn and three unknowns

All that talent to try to make Wile to stop being the butt of the joke? @Kari Kamiya might have been on to something. Back In Action looks like Kubrick compared to these upcoming IP’s in the 2020’s.
Its apparently a lawsuit movie where Wile E. sues ACME...?

It seems to be based on an old The New Yorker piece.
You also got to keep in mind Gunn writes scripts like its no tomorrow. Most of his Filmography is as a Screenwriter, while he's only done a few as both Writer and Director.

So it made a lot of money.

Does this mean we'll have to endure the Space Jam cinematic universe now?
Did it do better than Black Widow? I'd rather have both barely make any money since I'm sick of cinematic universe crossovers, lame sequels and capeshit, but I would find it sort of funny if a piece of shit like Space Jam 2 does better than an MCU film.

It barely beat Black Widow... at a whopping 32 million. And I seem to recall this was during Week 2 of that film running.

The Rick and Morty thing could have worked…but they had to make them family-friendly for the cameo.

You're allowed to drop the f-bomb once and shit as much as you want in a PG-13 rated film. It would have been really out of place in Looney Tunes but in-character for Rick and Morty. They could have had Rick talk shit about how stupid the concept of this movie was and make fun of how them being in it at all makes no sense apart from being the ad whores that they are. Maybe call the audience a bunch of popcorn muching capeshit loving retards while they're at it.

Or they could've just censored it like they bleep the swearing out on TV.

"Buy HBO Max you shitdicks!"

It did NOT make a lot of money, $32 million domestically on opening weekend, that's shit even now.
For comparison, Fast&Furious 9 made $70 million, Black Widow made $80 million.
Space Jam 2 is close to the levels of Cruella, which made $26 million.

Nobody in North America cares about this luckily but that doesn't matter.
What matters is how much this makes in China because LeBron is a bigger star in China than in the West.

As for the movie itself:
It was fun watching during Kiwi Farms Movie Night with 40 other spergs making fun of it but it's really bad.
The references are cringe, some of the jokes are out of place, like that one where Porky has a rap number..... like what the fuck was that? Did one of the writers watched 8 Mile during the writing process?
The characters don't even seem like themselves, they just do "cartoony" things because they're cartoons, you can tell the writers didn't watch much Looney Tunes.
Lola was exactly like I've predicted - perfect, zero flaws, just like any stronk wahmen in movies these days, totally forgettable, even the weird "sex symbol" from the original that inspired thousands of furries is at least memorable.
Animation was better than I expected, they really worked those computer nerds hard.
Best joke was that LeBron's kid is a super genius hackerman.... yeeeeeeah, suuuuuuuuure. :)

Honestly though, it's on par with the original which is also a bad movie that drags on a lot.

Exactly, thought could have done it.

“Why are we even here, Rick?”

“Because tv shows don’t pay for themselves anymore, Morty. It’s retarded but that’s how it goes.”

“Oh….”

“Anyway, wubalubadubdub, schewan sauce, what the fuck ever, I’m out”

I don't think he is, given his lack of personality, the fact that the NBA has grown their own Chinese teams due to being paid whores for the CPC, and the fact that unless you're bad-ass or cool, Black people only have the role of Minstrel Show or not existing at all in China, and LeBron is not funny.

It's funny how they went out of their way to hire a black director and a mostly black cast because the main character is black (movies are only allowed to be directed by people of the same race/gender as the main characters now), even knowing this might not go over well in China. The first Space Jam appealed to people of all different races considering MJ and the Looney Tunes had that kind of mainstream appeal back in the 90s. We somehow managed to become more racist over the past few decades.

I heard that the Driector is up to make another Space Jam with Dwyane the Rock Johnson, if it's going to be a cgi shitfest like A New Legacy I'll pass.

It’s probably going to be like Rampage, but with NBA Jam.
