The Admin is constantly hemorrhaging political capital. They are doing absolutely everything and anything to gain some while stemming the blood flow, to very little success. The absolute meaninglessness of this maneuver should tell you just how desperate they are for any kind of mandate.
Don't get my hopes up like this. God, the sheer horror if Biden were to drop now. They have barely been able to tread water for their mandate now, if Biden offs and Kamala comes in now it'd be just... the end.

Having Biden Drop and leave Kamala in would be a disaster, but what if they roll double snake eyes, and lost both to the coof? Would that actually be a better result for them long-term?
I imagine on one hand, it'd permanently ground the executive branch for the next four years, but it'd also give them an excuse to stop bleeding political power like crazy trying to cover up for everyone. Any gaffs or failures from the interim successors could just be written off as "They weren't ready for this, they were forced into it, of course they'd make mistakes". Hell, top casualties like that would probably be an optics boon for their whole coof campaigns and associated ventures.
That being said, I'm pretty sure they'd resort to manual blood oxygenation and eldritch rituals before allowing either of them to die off.

A lot of the 'Demographics as Destiny" shit is the usual Democrat folly of only ever seeing short-term gains and assuming they'll hold out forever. This is why Texas has been "Trending Blue" for decades. In reality, older generations of Hispanics disproportionately vote Red. The Democrats have, so far, maintained about a 1-2 split of Republican to Democrat votes by constantly shipping in first-generation Hispanics from Latin America. The problem for the Democrats is that its terribly unreliable, and every effort they have made to solidify them as an actual voting bloc has either failed or been met with mixed results.
