Man it's really disappointing how the fucking MHA movies negatively impact the anime series since this is the third time they had a filler episode that was just a movie advertisement that basically took time away from the interesting stuff that could be happening. After the current season, I am definitely going to read the manga because between the anime having these janky movie advertisement episodes and making weird decisions, it might as well be better to read the source material
I switched to the manga after this boring mini tournament arc and it was instantly better

You can write women like fool, Konosuba and Asobi Asobase are great example of that. Old time comedies also did it:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=i0GW0Vnr9YcThe problem is that modern comedies are written by unfunny hacks who only got to their position by fucking everyone around them.
I’m willing to argue that Jack Nicholson’s character said it better than I ever could:

Also Hosada might have had good intentions saying what he said about fictional women being trivialized, but the thing is due to Redo of Healer being on record as one of the most talked about anime(s) in recent memory, I’m surprised as famous as he is that he doesn’t talk about the idea of how male characters get shoehorned or played as a caricature of submissive guy that is not allowed to talk back/have sarcastic quips about women.

Like the MC who hilariously portrayed it in The Fruit of Grisaia:

I'd maybe be fine with it if they did that with stuff besides the movies. I remember a few months ago Vigilantes was gonna have a special announcement for its 100th chapter and everyone assumed it was gonna get an anime or at the very least adapt Aizawa's origin chapters for the new season with hopefully a quick Koichi cameo.
The announcement ended up being a nothing burger (all chapters were free to view during golden week) and a lot a people got annoyed from it.

Been on a bit of a retro anime exploration to see what existed before my birth and just finished Maison Ikkoku. What an awesome story it is and all 96 episodes are filled with meaningful character development and relevant subplots that drive the main plot. All characters are charming in their own ways and believable for the most part. I've seen some modern coming of age anime but this one really hits home in various aspects. The story also ties up nicely at the end without being too saccharine. It's an oldie but a gold one.

I know I was talking about how terrible Realist Hero was about having all other characters hold the idiot ball to make Protagonist look better but he's actually explaining forestry practices to a wood dark elf right now and I literally can't even

I admit that Google Translate is wonky but, if I'm understanding the article correctly, the suicides in Shinji Aoba's family (specifically those of his grandfather, father, and sister) all happened years before his arson attack on Kyoto Animation.

Maybe Hunter X Hunter? Each arc is like it's own tournament arc yet manages to keep it fresh, greed island was my favorite arc. I know Chimera ant arc gets super serious and depressing, but I tapped out before finishing it because I was getting annoyed at how Gon was treating Killua. I also personally enjoyed Katekyo Hitman Reborn a lot, but that might be some nostalgia taking, had some really great tournament arcs + a pretty cool power system. Beginning is a bit slow with the major focus on comedy until the first major arc (Kokuyu) and I know Tsuna can be annoying at times, felt like he did get a lot better though as the series progressed. Also the case where the anime not fully adapting the manga was actually for the better since Future arc (last part adapted) had a nice ending that was immediately fucked in the next manga arc. Cast is also pretty fun besides some exceptions, Lambo is awful and the two main love interests for Tsuna suck, but the good characters make up for it.

I'd also recommend:
-Busou Renkin: Lots of fun
-Beelzebub: Can only speak for the manga being good as I haven't seen the anime
-Soul Eater: If you like this one you might also like Fire Force though personally I couldn't get into Fire Force even as a big fan of Soul Eater
I disagree with Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Its mostly nostalgia but to be honest, there are not that much fun in the cast, apart from the fact that Tsuna's bodyguard acts so dumb that he has become a target for yaoi shitters and that only Mukoro is the only notable one, maybe Hibari but the former because of the fact that he has two identities and one is a girl.

The guy isn't wrong to be honest. People shouted about him being an sjw for it but I'm not sure it applies.
While he may have a point, I feel like he is pointing at the wrong branch. If anything, Reki Kawahara and Makoto Shinkai deserves more flak for this. Say what you want about Miyazaki but at least his films were somewhat human, even with a few nitpicks. The two are a bunch of hack writers that cannot write women properly. The former even admitted he fucked up and did not even know how to write women in the first few volumes of SAO, treating them as trophies for the protagonist, even in Alicization the trend somewhat exists. As for Shinkai, most of them do not act human or at the very least connectable, only the films' themes make it 'human'. The worst example is none other than Weathering With You. A byproduct of Shinkai's autistic teenage love mindset, the female protagonist (I even forgot the name) acts less like a real human questioning the world around her and just accepts the male protag's journey without thought. It basically felt like she was just a glorified trophy for him after the end. Your Name also deserves flak as Mitsuha sometimes acts like a dumb bitch (though Taki is more like an actual cardboard cutout than her).

Also, for some mild autism/powerlevel/MATI: If you took this line from Yahtzee's review of TLOUII and replaced the names of Ellie to Hodaka, it would still fit because the characters of the film lack any human relatability "What does matter is the characters at least be interesting to watch, and these aren't; the banter between Hodaka and his girlfriend as they adventure together sizzles like a flask of slightly tepid water because they're too similar in personality, background, and motivation to have good chemistry."

Kawahara is a bit too easy, no one is saying he is a good writer in any way. I don't remember who said it about Shinkai, but it was to the notion of "why don't the characters fuck?" about the body switching in Your Name.

However Miyazaki definitely fucked up hard in his Lupin adaption that scraped away every part of the personality from the entire cast.

Yoshiyuki Tomino, the OG Gundam author mentioned it alongside Kyoto Animation. Pretty based if you ask me.

He also criticized Girls und Panzer and KanColle because they treat war lightly.

Hosoda has a problem with relying on anthropomorphic animals in his work. Despite that, he makes interesting films. I'm not surprised that the article is from The Japan Times. A bunch of gaijins telling Japanese people that they should be ashamed of themselves.

All because the father was outed as an adulterer and therefore bringing shame to the family, though the arson may have been the final straw, or the events leading up to the arson was just an outcome of the man's family killing themselves.

EDIT: Ah, dammit the link went to page two, there's more to it. The sister ended up killing herself over the shame of being related to an arsonist, but apparently they're saying the family was put under a curse over it which is why they killed themselves.

Hard to believe it’s been two years since the arson attack on KyoAni. The only optimistic thing to come out of this is that Japan’s police security have been much more adept as to learning how social media can easily track down disgruntled/maniacal fans that want to put pain and suffering out on workers in animation studios that have nothing to do with the plans stated by wanna-be arsonists.

If I recall, they’ve been trying to do the same with suspects threatening idols/pop stars and not giving them privacy.

If anyone needs me, I’m going to try to save some anime from Kyoto Animation and make a little tribute on my profile by posting wallpaper of my favorite ones. There’s too many to choose from.

Konosuba got a new anime project announced. Hopefully its a new season. If so, then all that's left is Re:Zero to get a new season for all of the Isekai Quartet to be back (plus Shield Hero.)

I just finished watching the second series of Beastars - I was entertained throughout. Got a bit vorey, though and there were smatterings of awkward eroticism but that's par the course for an anime.

Legosi and Haru's "relationship" went nowhere, but I did like that there were more revelations about the world's social mechanics, for example bears needing to take muscle suppressants.

Since this wasn't shared in the group here, I wanted to post this by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of Fire Punch and Chainsawman. It's an 140 page one-shot called "Look Back" that came out today on the anniversary. Please check it out. Its beautifully done and a touching personal work that pays tribute as well. https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1009755

Recently watched a fairly new show called Joran (or Jouran) : The princess of snow and blood. It was okay in the beginning and then...the end just bottoms out pretty much. The plus side is that it was short at least, not overly dramatic, and not pretentious, but I wouldn't recommend seeing it if anyone cares.
