What do you say now, you racist whiteoids?
He got us there

Others were simply after liquor, which they have not been able to purchase in recent weeks because of a ban on liquor sales as part of the nation’s coronavirus restrictions.
WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO THIS? THIS IS LITERAL FUCKING INSANITY.
Let me clarify here:
  • SA imposed a bunch of Wuflu restrictions, and people get laid off.
  • People get bored and depressed sitting around doing nothing and wondering how they're going to live.
  • Can't even get drunk to cope.
  • Alcoholics start going through withdrawal.
  • Clog up medical services.
  • People turn to shitty moonshine to get drunk.
  • Money flows to criminals.
  • People get sick from shitty bathtub booze.
  • Medical services further clogged.
Seriously, in what fucking world was "banning liquor sales" not absolutely fucking retarded? At least a *drunken* mob would be less coordinated.

It was worse before. The initial Wuflu lockdowns banned the sale of both alcohol and cigarettes.
That's not to say any went without. I'm pretty sure it was done to direct business to the black market sources with ties to the ministers in charge, who have smuggled plenty of both in from Namibia for years to get around sin taxes.

At the start of the pandemic, in Australia, they tried to do this too. Lasted about 3 hrs before they walked it back. Tried to limit the amount you could buy after that, then that lasted all of 3 hrs too.

They said it was to curb domestic violence. This is why you shouldn't lockdown people who aren't criminals.

All these SA police videos have the same thing in common: police with shotguns, probably shooting rubber buckshot from ranges of 30 to 100 yards and not phasing one fucking person looting.

Here are two good ol' boys, with one shooting the other with rubber buckshot from 15 yards away. Didn't even yelp or show any signs of pain; seems it just stung a bit. A few took off the skin, but he did it shirtless.

These cops are wholly under armed with ineffective riot control weapons. These rubber pellets probably feel like someone gently tossed some pebbles at them.

In my city, they would ban buying alcohol at like 6pm to discourage people from gathering at homes. Sounds like a good idea at first, but when you think about it, it doesn't really change shit and just makes it more inconvenient for drunks to get their sauce. In the end I'd just buy beer off my buddy who owns a bar anyway, not like he could sell it the usual way.

Wow, putting communist terrorists with zero experience in statecraft in charge of a first world economy with virtually no transition period ended badly? Who could have seen that one coming?
There was a transition period. It wasn’t full on apartheid and then suddenly it ended in 1994. ‘Petty Apartheid’ (the more particular aspects of segregation in the routines of everyday life) was already gradually being dismantled by the National Party by the early 80’s under P.W. Botha, however the heavy-handed police state became even more repressive due to the state of emergency giving the President vast executive powers. There was also a sunset period in the early 90’s where a coalition government was put in place while negotiations between the National Party and the ANC were carried out. This is a big reason why whites weren’t outright alienated from the country due to the bitching of more radical left wing elements of the ANC and the South African Communist Party. Mandela pissed much of his own party off by being so conciliatory towards the afrikaners - and outright befriending F.W. De Klerk. Whether that transition period was handled well is another matter entirely.

Unrelated, but I’m of the opinion that Africa, particularly sub-Saharan Africa, is not without hope. There are huge strides in development being made elsewhere on the continent. We’ve mentioned Botswana several times before and of course they’re the first country people point to as a rare example of a stable, peaceful, and racially conciliatory African state. Honestly I wonder why the ANC seems to desire following Bobby Mugabe/ZANU-PF’s footsteps and not Seretse Khama’s path in Botswana, or Paul Kagame’s Rwanda.

Cause the ANC and Seretse Khama were ideologically opposed. The ANC would never support a market liberal economy and a meritocratic bureaucracy
