No hyperbole or drama, but how does order get restored? How do we go back to normal and who is going to pay for the repairs and rebuilding of infrastructure? I have a feeling that Russia, China and the West will be looking for the contract to rebuild, but what of the separation of races? Surely the rioters cannot leave side by side in normality with the rest of the races.

Like it usually does. When enough government force (police and now army) and private force (armed citizens) is put up against the rioters, when enough arrests have been made, and when there isn't anything left too loot and they get bored then they'll slink of back to their squatter camps and then all the decent people will have to retry and rebuild what they broke. Well I guess if we are to believe some of the reports there's been retaliatory violence with people burning down the squatter camps so maybe they'll realise that violence begets violence (doubtful).
The thing is they don't have a political aim, not even a nebulous one like BLM. They're just angry because their boy Zuma got arrested, and then I believe a lot of people are just using this opportunity to loot because they're poor and covid lockdowns have sucked especially for the poorer (black) communities. This isn't a race war, this isn't meant to topple the government, this is literally just people chimping out because in South Africa that's what black people do, it's ingrained in their culture since the days of Apartheid that if you're unhappy the way to get change is to march and riot, and even better if the police start opening fire because then you get to play the PR game

A lot of well of people in South Africa and not even that well off, won't be impacted by the rioting or even the looting. So their concern is on the economic impact since that does touch them.

Part of that might be the fact that these riots so far have been mostly contained in Kwa-Zulu Natal and parts of Gauteng province. People chilling in Free State, North West, Limpopo, Northern Cape, Western Cape, and Eastern Cape haven't seen much of the violence (yet?).

Most places are too far away to care, and the closer places like Eastern Cape aren't Zulu strongholds. Gauteng is a bit of an exception since that's basically a massive economic hub with a lot of people from all around migrating to it for work. Also lets face it you could burn down all of Limpopo and no one would notice the difference.

If you can blame the West for anything, it's destroying their traditional society where doing any of this was a guaranteed way to catch a spear in the throat. While Western hippies love to tell you Africa and Native Americans or Aussie Aboriginals were all peaceful and happy and mean things like the police didn't exist before whitey showed up, they had intricate codes of justice that included things like "forcible enslavement for breaking shit" and "execution for sodomy." In a traditional society, the equivalent of this infrastructure being destroyed belonged to the king, and when you fuck around with the king's property, you better hope all he'll do is sentence your entire family to forced labor for life (or sell you to an Arab or white guy to pick cotton or work the sugar plantations).
