The propaganda I was taught in school always said how SA was a vile place in the Apartheid era where blacks couldn't even get jobs or move anywhere, much less have political aspirations, until St. Mandela was released from prison (never told why he was there in the first place) and elected the first black president, and it has been a rainbow nation and utopia since.

They curiously ignored the facts that international pressures brought the Apartheid government down, said government was in the works of reforming anyways, and a whole myriad of other things for a gay fantasy land of diversity.

Remember in school we had to read a series of poems by some woman decrying the evils of self defense and building walls around your home/community. We never got any context as to why people in South Africa thought they needed defenses, just that they were evil for doing wanting them.
