Police are openly firing on protesters and several cities and regions have completely fallen.

The former prime minister Jacob Zuma was arrested on corruption charges and the population is sliiding into more and more poverty.

At issue seems to be yet another Covid wave and Strict government measures to control it.

There are rumors the government is censoring social media.

South Africa has probably the most hatred fueled people in the world. In South Africa people who mug you will go out of their way to rape and kill you, that's part of the process for them. There isn't a single nation more bloodthirsty than South Africa and the people there are the closest one can get to being "evil".

I wouldn't shed a tear if the whole country sinks into the ocean.

I do not think we are talking about decades here..maybe weeks. South Africa has an unemployment rate hovering around 35%

AIDS was going around what was the Belgian Congo in the 1920's supposedly...if you believe the documentaries anyway.

I can sort of believe it was always going around on some level and probably came from some idiot eating ape sushi and that the era of promiscuity and homosexuality is what caused its exponential growth

Just a reminder that Queen were total chads and performed in apartheid South Africa, much to the chagrin of other musicians like Springsteen or Hall & Oates. Freddie Mercury famously stated that they perform shows for fans regardless of what country they live in, since the fans are more important than their governments.

Partially opportunists for sure, but a lot of the unrest is coming from the Zulu tribe who would rather see SA burn than admit their leader did something wrong
