Aside from the fact that it only talked a bit about smash (considering this is a smash thread), he's got a point and I agree with him. Nintendo should not be exempt from criticism over their stupid asinine decisions, and it's a shame we've gotten to this point with them as a company where they can get away with some VERY questionable things.
The fact that their online service is being charged rather than it being free like it was on the Wii and WiiU is the very sole reason why I refuse to get a Switch.
His complaints about slippy, "fan games", and emulation are unfair as he paints it as Nintendo did something completely wrong and not a requirement under trademark/copyright to uphold their bottom line and licenses. (Don't forget Marvel still pumps comics at a loss to maintain copyright for their movies, so its standard stuff with these laws)
He also compares a dead game (Melee is for the gamecube, a console discontinued in 2007) to current games/esports (Fortnite, COD, Apex) and wonders why Nintendo doesn't support it, when Nintendo has a current smash esports called Ultimate. Again, the tourney advertised an emulated copy, infringing copyright/trademark, and the laws require action. AM2R and Pokemon Uranium are not licensed games and trademark protections require activity from the trademark holder.
The online service is not Nintendo exclusive and all modern console do it because console players are retarded and pay for the privilege of using their own internet.
Nintendo actually makes money supporting Ultimate and not Melee. Melee is literally a bad fighting game, its a party fighting game for kids, with all "top-tier" mechanics being glitches that get banned later on (Wombling, Ice Climbers Freeze, Stalling, Rising Pound) and also bans most of the content (Items/maps), not to mention the calls for banning a playable character (Jigglypuff) since she can abuse the game and Hungrybox fucks everyone with it.
The video is bad faith and makes you agree with him if you don't understand any of nintendo's decision or economical purpose. There is 0 reason to monetary support a buggy game that you don't sell when you have a current best seller bringing you both game and console sales.
This also ignores the constant amount of pedo accusations that come from the smash community, with Melee being the biggest offender.
EDIT: The additional framing of Nintendo being against the Etika controller, which were literally some guy selling knockoff controller shells with the Nintendo logo on it. Shocking that I can't sell IPhone cases with the Apple logo on it and not get the same thing from Apple, almost as if brand logos mean something. Not to mention the guy was profiting off of it (not relevant to Nintendo, but funny in regards to everyone defending the "charity"). This video is just giving headlines of websites and painting a narrative, not at all a factual or argumentative take on why Nintendo is bad and has fanboys that defend them to hell and back.
Second Edit: He also compares buggy game releases to Nintendo shutting down Controller Shells and preventing advertisement of Emulated games. He compares China TF2 knock-off to AM2R and Pokemon Uranium, where China doesn't care about copyright law unlike the rest of the world. Also, Sakurai must like Project M and Melee and not his current Smash Ultimate, or else he's evil. He can't realize that Nintendo fans like Ultimate and not Melee, because they just don't want to play buggy-competitive game. The video is literally someone complaining because Nintendo doesn't care about his favorite game, and he even admits that he only cares about Melee. People telling him they don't care about Melee is somehow proof that Nintendo fans are sheep, instead of them enjoying the new content in Ultimate.
