Tbh I had a moment of regret and panic last night thinking about being so open here on Kiwi, but not because of ya'll... but all the other folks out there who have hassled me for being honest about my views in the indie gaming industry (i.e. SJW's, feminists, "allies").

I'm glad to have had this experience though and thanks for everyone being so reasonable. It's definitely helped me feel like I can return to my ol' shitposting / speaking my mind self on twitter and elsewhere.

Seriously folks. It's bad out there in the indie gaming scene. SocJus is a nightmare to be around in an artistic field if you have shit self-esteem.

People always tout Scratch as being a great programming teacher for kids but if you can learn how to use Construct 2 and teach them that instead, I think it'd put them WAY ahead of the game imho. People underestimate kid's abilities and giving them something like C2 will at least let them grow as a developer if they decide to stick with it and use C2 to make high quality games. Scratch will is only a stepping stone, not a platform worth releasing on itself.

Also don't underestimate Twine or that one visual novel engine. If the kid is more prone to writing then starting with those is going to be a better first step imho.

The other thing that happened, directly related to Zoe, was that I met this very well connected socialite in the indie gaming scene who was bragging to me about how Zoe was going to seduce The Mirani just to fuck him over because he was apparently a misogynist who was thirsty for Zoe. This same person bragged about having fucked Zoe as though that was just what Zoe did.

Of course, now I realize that The Mirani and Zoe are connected via Something Awful forums and that a lot of the drama we see on the surface of gamergate is an Old War via notoriously awful women who have built these weird personas online and in the tech world who are now benefiting from this guise of feminism when the truth is they are just Old Trolls who are very experienced in gaming the system.

The person who was closed to Zoe I mentioned was telling me about how The Mittani had a yacht and was always bragging about his sexual exploits or some-such. It sounded wildly unrealistic until I did my research and started making all the connections.

Long story short about him... he's an incredibly successful EVE player who somehow makes a shit ton of money off that, his website, or old money or something. It's been a while since I did the research. I'm pretty sure he is an old Goon and that's where his connection to Zoe comes in somehow.

It's really interesting because after I learned that information, and Zoe learned I learned that info, her and The Mittani end up having a back and forth on twitter where he praised her for "meta-gaming" the initial gamergate debacle.

That was confirmation enough for me that my source wasn't lying about him thirsting for her, and I wouldn't put it past her that she turned up her flattery in the face of the info getting out she was fucking with him just to get ahead of the curve.

I hardly talk about this stuff anymore because it just sounds like fucking crazy bullshit unless you were there to see it, and having to explain it to people means having to unravel the entire knot of the current indie gaming culture to explain why it matters someone like Zoe exists and is really unhealthy for folks like me in the industry. She not only sucks all the air out of the room, but she does a good job shoving people into air locks and jettisoning them into space

I think that's a good point. I actually looked into scratch a while back when I was younger because I wanted to get into proramming.

It wasn't really worth it, to be honest. I didn't spend much time on it because it was sorta strange to wrap my head around block-based coding in the way scratch does it. Essentially, there're blocks for variables and strings, but it'd just be 500% better if they had an empty space available for typing.

Having tried out construct 2, I see that it's realy great for what it's worth. As a learning developer, you can put together games conviently while getting used to the concepts and logic behind coding, while as a professional developer, it's versatile enough to use some of the more important functions (Such as Web communication, API support, and other advanced concepts) needed to help your game reach it's goals. While I say that, it doesn't mean it's true. To quote the guy who made Revenge of the Sunfish when I contacted him about game development:

the thing is, alot of devs tend to fixate on finding the best one or limit themselves to the technical aspects of game design, and to be fair that it is somewhat important, but i feel that some lose their perspective on the actual game experience, that they are presenting to people.
I mean a game with an enthralling story can captivate an audience with quite simple resources.
Anyway the point I'm trying to get at is, yes some engines are better than others, but it doesn't matter as much as people think, that is; the language or engine used to make a game.

(Just a quick note, he misinterpreted what I meant when I was asking him what engine he uses. He though I was specifically asking for a good engine to use)

There's also one particularily nice thing I like about C2, and that's the tweening effect that causes things to warp. GameMaker: Studio uses this shader system that requires OpenGL programming knowledge in order to achieve that, and OpenGL is it's own can of worms.

Chris is something of a black hole. You can give him all the praise and adoration in the world and it would not be enough for him. He will constantly expect more asspats. When his house burned down and the forums chipped in and gave him a nice gift package, his response was to bitch about the money order and then beg for more Legos. When he started to sell medallions and pleaded with people online to help so he could help pay for his mom's dental bills, we found out he spent most of that money on Legos... and he STILL demanded more money. This is just stuff from the last year... we have a whole catalogue of other incidents where Chris has displayed this attitude.

When people first learn of Chris, the typical response is somewhere along the lines of "Oh, look at this poor guy! I should help him!" Then the more a person learns about him, the more you realize it's a fool's run to try at give this guy any help because all it will do is demand from you and hate you the instant you do stop supporting his habits.

I think if the SJW horde ever tried to defend Chris or raise him up on a pedestal, it would be a death knell for them. If they hoisted him up as a martyr, they would be hoisting up an individual who has given the world these gems:

Also, Chris sprayed that Gamestop employee after attempting to deface a Sonic Boom display because he's decided the Sonic Boom's Sonic's blue arms gives him sensory overload (read: it doesn't look like the Sonic he grew up with therefore it's wrong). It isn't because the staff did anything against him personally, but because he got caught vandalizing, something to which he later admitted on his Facebook to have been doing in multiple stores around his area. Not something we would typically encourage.

My descent into madness the past year is really simple to explain really. I definitely have some kind of chemical imbalance going on... something involving ADHD or Anxiety, and if I'm not exercising regularly, eating well, and taking care of my shit

Feels.. I have some of this and if I'm not exercising all the time I pretty much become useless and my anxiety just goes out of control.

I'm the total opposite of Brianna Wu, and the only reason I really lost the plot, besides not taking care of myself, was trusting the social justice community and for whatever insane reason, thinking leaning on my "transness" as some kind of disability worthy of sympathy, was a good idea.

It's easy to see how you'd do this. Getting to feel good about something that people have probably flipped you tons of shit for is a great feeling.
