To be honest, not only does the English wikipedia not mention it at all, the German wikipedia basically gives 2 books as it's source. A book written in 2013 and another in 2010. Meanwhile we can point to actual laws stating it was illegal. There's no other sources on this subject, really, nothing from like the 50s or so. On top of that there's no info about it anywhere else.If you google 'Transvestitenscheine' you might get more hits. There is not a lot of scholarship available on the subject in English because queer historians are not falling over themselves to focus on Nazis doing the 'tolerating trans people to avoid anyone being gay' thing. It's not being actively suppressed, but it is skimmed over because who wants to publish that in today's environment? So Google translate has to be your friend.

(look at the difference in length between those two Wikipedia articles. The English one does not specifically mention the Third Reich at all although it does admit that the certificates were issued until the 1950s. The English version also seems to downplay the number of certificates issued. I wonder what was going on behind the scenes in the edits.)
I am definitely not an expert on this subject and I would be interested to know if the certificates really were issued to crossdressing heterosexuals (as in, AGPs) as well, as the English wikipedia article seems to say.

Ultimately I wish no government would validate troons by allowing change of sex identification in their documents. I don't care about people wearing clothes that are seen as of opposite gender. I don't even care if people gets the chop as long as they can accept all the risk and know it's a mutilation - and won't really change your sex. By validating into the delusion of these people you gave them platform where they can screech and ask for even more. (The initial identification was allowed, through the pretense that it's to make them feel better at airport and such where their 'appearance' didn't match the ID, but people were bad at clocking trannies. But in reality, I thought it's more like the Nazis, is too hide away the homos from society.)
Side Note : My AGP friend (the same guy who wear goth getup to camping trip) seemed to keep spiraling down more and more into insanity. He still kept his easily annoyed, judgemental sociopath personality and thought it as totally a cool thing to be. Thinking it made him an edgy alt girlboss who knows better. I recall this too; I may be off base but I think trans people said they were concerned the mismatched ID would "out" them and expose them to violence.
Now it's just framed in terms of dysphoria and e.g. Kevin is never going to get outed by his passport because anyone can tell. This is also how we've ended up with "X" as a gender neutral indicator on some government IDs around the world, which is literally the opposite of trying to avoid outing them.
That's a red flag for autism when kids do it.
