Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Now, imagine the optics of Kamala laughing on the border.

Imagine it.

Kamala is already disliked by the mainstream AND progressive left. She's supremely unlikable. Now have her laugh, at the scene of something even both the Mainstream and Progressive wings consider to be the biggest, most tragic issue.

The progressive wing would become apoplectic, they'd sheer right the fuck off into open civil war if the Biden Administration couldn't contain it. And... the Biden Administration has already burnt all of its limited pool of political capital. It's very likely Kamala laughing on the border is exactly what would tip the progressive wing into open civil war AND would alienate the mainstream wing hard enough to see a fairly massive voter dropoff.

At BEST her going damages the Admin harshly and burns the last of its emergency capital along with all of Pelosi's and Schumer's. And when that's your best-case scenario, you really need to just avoid it by any means you possibly can.

i doubt any civil war is going break out. "conservative bad" is enough to get everyone on line when the vote matters.

i've been around to see kathleen eldridge speak along with Danny glover and people were trying to get a blackredgreen alliance going. (black nationalists-communists-hippy libertarians)

there's no intraparty civil war brewing in america because its a defacto two party system. you get some indie parties on the ballot and offices but when it comes to the national stage most people will back red or blue. the justice dems came and went and the 3rd party independents gave up on them. same goes for the tea party and we saw how the gope reacted to trump and his civic nationalists. whats richard spencer and his phalanx up to? are they in office?

The civil war won't make another party viable, that's not how an intraparty civil war will go. Rather, it will result in a few things all occurring within the party as a whole.
1: Primary battles, as Progressive, Mainstream, and Establishment democrats all run against each other leading to them brutalizing each other.
2: Hard splits in congress. Right now, they can all sorta get together to propose legislation. That goes out the window as bills are dragged down and ripped apart by vying factions.
3: The Executive Branch basically becomes pointless, as no bills will come across their desk and their ability to perform foreign diplomacy is basically ruined by the fact congress won't be able to agree to ratify anything.

My only thought is they're gonna try and memory-hole that she's not at the Right part of the border, push that she was totally at the border and look its fine, no problem, and try to twist the narrative so that its Trump who ran off to the wrong part of the border so he could stirr up a bunch of fake news regarding a crisis he obviously planted.

Dicey move though, its gonna take just one errant reporter to get her cackling and its all over. And I'm thinking the drowning news media is starting to poke at the idea that Biden Hate Views could be just as viable as Trump Hate Views, as we've started seeing a few articles running against the curve. There's a bigger problem with that. Trump going to the border isn't the only reason this happened, it occurred at about the same time that the democrat part in Texas started putting pressure on. Kamala representss the Establishment wing of the democrat party, the problem is that two other wings are getting increasingly frustrated by this as well. Its not JUST Republicans applying pressure anymore. And those Democrat wings complaining about her not being on the right part of the border is a lot harder to ignore.

i doubt theres any historical precedent in america and i say this in light of the union-socialist era of early 20th century politics. when sacco and venzetti were killed and the us army dropped bombs on striking miners or even later when philly ps dropped fuel bombs on move.
