Was anything of import really built by African slaves here? I think there's some confusion from the historically illiterate, a totally nonsensical conflation of black slavery with ancient Egypt, medieval Europe, and modern America (no hablo e-spaniel) when slave labor was/is used for large projects.
I'd venture a guess that plantation houses and similar smaller scale projects in the South were built using slaves for preliminary ditch-digging and stone-lugging, but something tells me there weren't any slave guilds specializing in masonry, framing, plumbing, and the like. How would an illiterate slave that could barely pick cotton or boil potato go about building grandiose structures that we can barely replicate today? You can't just point a laborer at some materials and expect something good, there is in fact skill involved (it's just not the kind of skill you get from a $150k piece of paper).

Juneteenth was a local/State holiday, IIRC. This is a case of branding being hard because Independence Day already exists and you can’t call it Emancipation Day because it isn‘t when Lincoln singed the Proclamation.
