He could also go further backwards too, since a lot of stuff from the 60's were still being shown in the 80's. But nope, wants cheap views (seriously, he wants them timely views and to mobilize his base of retarded manchildren) and uses his minions to act out the scenes due to utter inability to actually do a review, since his reviews are literally just synopses with a shit ton of footage from the movie that hasn't been out yet.

There was a shitload of really trippy stuff in the 60s. Like Sid and Marty Krofft. Hell, there was some really good "nostalgic" TV shows he still hasn't touched, like the Muppet Babies, or the Ghostbusters cartoon (which I haven't seen, but he seems to like it).

Sid and Marty Krofft were fucking awesome. They were like drugs when you were a little kid.

It's hilarious they pretend their shows weren't basically LSD trips for kids.

There's plenty of other movies he could do. I mean, he might have been on to something with reviewing Garfield and Planet of the Apes. I'm pretty sure there's bad adaptations of "nostalgic (I seriously am getting so sick of the word, people use it so much that it's like it doesn't have a meaning anymore)" TV shows, or bad re-makes of classics, or video games.

I don't know, do the Psycho remake. Do the Robo-Cop remake. Do the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies.

This is what gets me. There is tons of awful movies out there that are at least 10 years old (seemingly the standard age for these things). Hell looking at films that came out in August of 2005 alone I found 5 bad movies. At least 2 of them could get a review. Going after Pixels is just lazy. If he makes money then mazels but surely watching something old and bad would be easier than something new and bad.

Doug Walker is a critic in name only, he's actually a commentator. I already did the rant earlier in this thread, but with his latest "review" of pixels I rest my case. Is there anything about that video that could be considered a critique of it?
Nope. It's just a glorified 'skit', just without the humor or intelligence.

Now that I've sat down and watched that 20 minutes of nothing, the one thing those who were smart and didn't watch that joke of a review should take home is Doug couldn't even get the notion of why something was done. He failed to identify an obvious product plug (old lady showing a clearly labeled Yahoo drink) and then turned it into a joke about how that plug was a failed joke that "raped" of your financial decision to watch this film. So yeah, Doug tries to spin it into a joke when pointing out just how casually Sandler plugs in products to make fuckloads of dosh to horde himself would've both been better as a joke and actually inform the audience about how bad this movie is. Since, you know: it's so cynical that it couldn't even wait for a product plug.

You want one more gift and reason? Okay: he dressed up black dude he has stuck in contract as Morgan Freeman to play the Kevin Smith role as president, but has him act like Obama... even though visually he should've played as Freeman as the president in Deep Impact. So his joke just failed in every way. Want one more? Alright, but this is the last freebie. He failed to understand that music and sound is critical in a film. He tried using the fact that Sandler's emotions are shown through it, but... every movie since sound was invented for it relied on it to add to a scene. Gut the noise and you lose most of your impact. He tried and failed to understand how the movie cynically tried to make you give a shit about it.

If I remember the earliest film he reviewed was the adaptation of "The Wiz"
Also I think he started catering to the 12-15 year olds that watch his videos which I why I think he does a lot of 90's stuff and some 2000 stuff. Then he threw it out the window and does whatever the fuck he wants. He reviewed After Earth and Jurassic World. Dude should just be renamed "The Critic"
That's what I've come to think too. In the end it's still Doug Walker giving his opinion on movies in his hyperbolic comedic style. Does it really matter whether the property is "nostalgic"?

Aaand on that note, speaking of Sid and Marty Krofft, I figured this thread could use something that's actually funny:

I know, it's totally off topic, but hey, given that there's the link to his pixels review, I think we all deserve something legitimately funny to balance out the level of unfunny.

In speaking of unfunny critics, has anyone seen the latest avgn
http://cinemassacre.com/category/avgn/avgnepisodes/2015/

This review is actually decent, almost reminds me of the old days of the nerd.

He really does shine when he is actually demonstrating his knowledge of video games as opposed to saying "this game is a load of shit." I haven't seen too many recent AVGN reviews, but this one seems pretty decent. He still whines and makes hyperbolic comments, but that is par the course for someone called the Angry Video Game Nerd. However, no skits and he actually gives some background on the history of the Turbograffix 16. He also doesn't go into a great big, "This game is the shittiest game I've ever played in my life rant." Doug Walker take notes.

Oh I agree. His 'Seaman' review was surprisingly good too.

I think for his DVDs, he reviewed Reefer Madness and Doomsday Machine which I think were both older than the Wiz.

The thing about Doug's recent cash grabs with stuff like Jurassic World and Pixels is that he's simply trying to cash in on Internet bandwagons that are popular to get as much profit out of them as possible. It's no secret that, currently, Channel Awesome is hemorrhaging money and talent like no tomorrow. Many of its once popular draws (Phelous, Nostalgia Chick, Lupa, JesuOtaku, etc.) that attracted both general and niche audiences have been leaving the site, and the recent shutdown of Blip definitely does not help matters. Couple that with a rather inept and incompetent management (there are literally horror stories regarding Mike Michaud and how he runs the nonexistent upper management of CA) and a dying business model and, honestly, the site is on the brink of collapse. A lot of people are actually saying that the stuff like the IndieGoGo project that was supposed to do a lot of new CA shows (there were, like, three shows in the pipeline all with a schedule, not just "Pop Quiz Hotshot whenever") was basically spent on keeping the company in business as long as it has.

Their talent is jumping ship and the interest in the NC has long since passed and withered away save for the most diehard of supporters. If it somehow makes it to the end of the 2010's I'll be extremely surprised.

I still remember the story about the Superman producer who spent a decade trying to get one of his movies to end with a fight featuring a giant spider. He finally got to end up putting it in the climax of Wild Wild West, and it bombed like the Luftwaffe.

Doug, Demo Reel is your giant spider. But at least Jon Peters didn't keep pushing for giant spiders to end up in his movies after his idea bombed. Hell, at the very least there could be a hypothetical scenario where a climactic fight between the protagonist and a giant spider. . . oh wait, that already happened.

Now, Doug: what possible configuration could Demo Reel ever exist in and not suck? Go ahead, I'll give you time.

I may not be Doug, but I think I can answer the question: None.

Or so bad it's 'Bane works at Arby's' (Something that was so poorly received, they pulled it down!)
Oh god, and I thought there could be nothing worse than his Joker videos.

Speaking of, what ever happened to the video where Doug had Joker saying "Penis"?
