A video criticizing a movement is going to draw in a lot of the people who support said movement? Likewise, a movement criticizing journalism is going to have a less than favorable portrayal by said journalists? Who'da thunkit.

I think that of the 1.2 billion gamers of the world, the truth is that most of them don't care about this pointless Internet slapfight.
 
As I said before, I'm pro-GG (I came out as that in another thread on this forum), but I'm not a shill.

Gamergaters are not invincible or completely in the right. The MRA types and the assholes willing to stoop as low as the people they fight are just as embarrassing, autistic and pathetic as those they oppose, if not more, and even though many anti-GGers seem to want to steal the crown of being the most histrionic whiny asshole away from Gamergaters, you'd have to be delusional not to acknowledge some GGers think they have to be worse just to keep the antis from getting attention.

In fact, let's say Gawker and Kotaku went under. Let's say Zoe Quinn loses hard. Let even say people like Randi Harper, Brianna Wu, Anita Sarkeesian, etc. all wind up discredited nobodies.

Does that eliminate the fact some GGers acted like immature manbabies who aren't worthy of scorn for their lolcow antics?

It's not just Kotaku, they wanted to shut down Polygon, Rock Paper Shotgun, Destructoid, and all sorts of other sites. They'll only ever truly win when all the people they don't agree with are chased away from the video game industry.

Me, I think that's idiotic. I wouldn't mind watching Gawker disappear from the internet, but a wholesale purge of dissent is a ridiculous goal to shoot for and any GGer who seriously believes that's a good idea is just the horseshoe theory in action.
 
I'll have to admit, I was pro-Gamergate for a while. But as time passed, their goals became more and more confusing, and it became clear that nobody could agree on anything...I just stopped paying attention to it for a while and lived my life.

There's no winning side in this debate. Either you're siding with neckbeards that hate feminists, or legbeards that hate men. Both sides are equally cringeworthy, in my eyes.

Since Homer, Kingofpol, and Aurini have their own threads, perhaps we can use this thread to talk about Ralph, the guy who lied about reporting Brianna Wu to the cops, and the guy who claimed Anti-GGers kicked him out of his apartment.

I pretty much feel the same way as you did, and I rather stay neutral in this shit, I have bigger issues to deal with and besides I hate being part of large groups any way.

I'm guessing this is a misaimed reaction based on "everything the chans do is evil and antiprogressive" since most of the leaks are coming from 4chan/8chan? A lot of them don't go there so they don't realize most people are interested in outing leaders, politicians, and people they know, and instead think the first thing anon did with all this data was try to ruin the anti-gg movement. Which would be really petty and dumb.
Honestly I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this. Wouldn't most SJWs be excited about a bunch of cheating men getting outed? But it's increasingly becoming a total crapshoot which side of the issue SJWs fall on. If it's any consolation, a lot of the commentors on WHTM are confused/don't care as well.
