As I saw elsewhere on Twitter, she looks like she's starting to have an allergic reaction to something.
I saw screeching of "FATSHAMING", nevermind she was supposed to be traveling through the wilderness and hunting for survival. Not to mention how horribly pale she looks, what happened?

What even is the correlation here?

His entire Twitter is pure spergery honestly.
People using "horny" like this in the past year or so is really getting on my nerves. A less obtuse term would be "suggestive", "lewd" or "perverted". Horny can describe a person's state of mind but using it to describe an inanimate object is stupid and sounds stupid. And that ALONE makes people that used the word that way garbage people.

20-something white Karen with daddy issues is the new "straight white male protagonist" and gaymers are the new women. We sure came a long way since 2012, so much diversity 🤮

So the art directors get off to baby faces. That's horrifying.
It's partially the fault of facial mocap systems and how clean up works.

You can get really fluid facial animations but it's not the most stable of things when you're running it through a pipeline. You kind of have to make some alterations to the existing model before it's done.

They can still fix it is what you're saying, but will they?

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they add player customization options.

The articles about her looks are a little bit too convenient considering it's the second game and she now just looks homely instead of just fugly. In the first game without her armor she looked like she had atrophied muscles. But this time her body looks normal without needing to wear layers of armor to fill it in.

The whole thing about her being a perfect clone in universe born of the machine and it's known that the subterranean facilities can change genetic compounds because the robots can be altered that way in there.

They didn't want to use the model based on the real person, they went out of their way to make an ugly 3D model. It's the current trend in the western gaming industry (ME:Andromeda, Control, etc.).

Waaaah gaymers don't want to look at ugly people in their escapism! Waaaaaah!

Go complain about unrealistic standards of beauty in Hollywood, you fucking hacks. I want my made-up people to look cool, pretty/handsome and badass. These blobby ladies are neither. And they don't need to be all pretty either. Marguerit from the new Subnautica is an old lady with a face only a mother would love, but she's fucking badass and she looks cool. Hell, I'd play a game with her as the protagonist.

Pictured: a woman who stabbed a Reaper Leviathan to death without the benefit of a stasis rifle. And then rode inside its carcass all the way to the next game.

What I don't want are blobby, chunky, or outright mannish girls who don't even fit the setting they're a part of, who get pushed at us as the "ideal" we should all love. That all gets a "fuck no" from me. I want idealized, fictional people to look idealized, that's non-negotiable. What's the point of having a billion polygons per character if all you're going to model are Amish wives?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It goes a bit deeper than that since they're striving for realism and not every attempt is perfect and can cause things like accidental over-correction. Face scanning has existed for more than a decade for action figures and the tech works the same as it does in games to get the "ultimate" form of realism, but many times the face scanned model winds up looking out of place on a plastic body and just fucks up the look of the character.

Bethesda makes ugly looking humanoid models because they've always been restricted in that department. Where as Obsidian was more intentional. Just because something is fugly doesn't usually mean there's an agenda behind it, there's limitations in these realism technologies that has quite a few flaws in it. When it comes to fictional universes at least in the west, many have felt that realism gives it more validity than stylized styles. It's why most western fantasy art in stuff like Conan is very detailed. You can even look at LOTR and some of the more famously known depictions of that favored realism. Hell you can even go further back to Howard Pyle and his paintings of pirates. Howard Pyle basically established the look of all modern depictions of Pirates with their french style clothes and much of the fictitious lore behind them.

Yeah but how can balding bespectacled bearded betas convince the she-twinks they orbit around that they're one of the "good gamers" and not the misogynerds they read about on Teen Vogue and Buzzfeed if they aren't actively schlubbing up the fictional women they work with? Beauty is ugly. Fat is thin. Sexy is sexist.

I sincerely believe that most of these artistic decisions are made under the fear of A) blue checkmarked game journos and their followers and B) actually making something attractive because they've been conditioned and cucked to death to believe that strength and beauty are incompatible somehow. All I can think of is that faggot Klepek shielding his eyes during that (Yakuza?) segment with some big-titted broad in a bikini.

That's who they're scared of.

It makes no sense.

If beauty = sexist, and ugly = beauty, then surely ugly = sexist.

It also implies they are hanging around thots telling them how fat, fish faced, and unappealing they are.

Nah, they're the same faggots. Artists are generally the first to be poisoned by the well.

I do miss the days when old Lara Croft, Cate Archer and Rayne used to be the industry norm on the topic of vidya female characters in the west

Spergy as gamers are, these people aren't really any better since they end up being as petty or autistic as the group they screech about.

In Aloy's case, the problem she has from what I heard was angle shots.

The only problem I have with Aloy in some shots was the fact she resembled Nikocado Avocado.
