You don't understand it that well either. Autism does not impede intellectual development. It does impede learning social skills, understanding emotions, empathy and proper forms of communication. Autistic person would find it difficult to properly communicate and bond with another person no matter what age group they are in.
An adult feeling more comfortable in company of children is usually related to intellectual deficit, not autism.

In order for that to be a defense, you'd have to be so dumb that you wouldn't understand the idea of consent, and if that were the case, you would be locked up somewhere.
