Ten years or so ago the woke were all about ‘respecting people’s deeply held religious beliefs’ because Muslims were the fashionable oppressed minority du jour, now it’s all about the troons. Trouble is in UK law religious belief is a protected characteristic, whereas troonery isn’t unless you’ve got a GRC and even then there’s some major exclusions, though troons and their propaganda orgs such as the once mighty Stonewall have made a lucrative grift of telling lies about those. That’s one of the reasons the UK Terven Hoard are particularly pissy. The gays are catching up pretty quick now too, as they’re getting sick of being told they should unpack their obviously bigoted reasons for just being into dick.
 
This thread moves too fast for me but i got enough of the old, old, so-fucking-OLD "kink at pride" debate to learn kiwifarm was full of prudes. Weird.

I am not a big fan of men in leather thongs walking on all four but i don't think it's worth clutching my pearls. Sure kids might sense that it's transgressive and maybe even be a little uneasy, but a lot of things will do that to them in public spaces. You can't have a city without the occasional crackhead or guy pissing in the street. It's up to the parents to be there to sooth them, and provide an explanation/context to the things they might see. They will see way worse things than that if you let them get unsupervised access to the internet. Or even if just their friends get that unsupervised access.

I think Prides are, in some way, a continuation of old Carnavals and Feast-of-fools type of celebrations (you even see people being walked around by their dogs in the Hunchback Disney movie, now that i think about it). It's a party, an overflow valve where normal rules don't apply. Societies rules are being turn upside down for a short moment. Humans needs those valves to function, and i envison this very forum as another kind of valve where society's rules don't apply, at least that's why i went here. So i can be transgressive in a way i can't be almost anywhere else.

Which is why it's different to be half-naked at prides/ in leather at prides, and doing those things at a normal restaurant, in the subway or the street at any other day. Pride is an acceptable context to showcase your kink (to a degree) but a normal context isn't.

But i am not taking my kids at Prides, because Prides are not fun to me.

Yeah that’s all fun and good and dandy but pride is pushed as a progressive, healthy, “normal” thing whereas people in the past knew that carnivals and parties are specifically engineered to showcase that kid of shit. Pride tries to normalize it. Also, children should not be anywhere even remotely near sexual situations, ever, period. Shit take.

Ah yes I’m a prude because I think keeping children away from highly sexual fetish shit is a bad idea. Sure. Have your kinks and fetishes all you want, hell, even have pride fetish events. But keep them relegated to adult-only audiences and don’t try to push it as “normal”.

With children transitioning more and more, how will the cases be handled in the future when these children grow up to be deformed adults with health issues and decide to sue their parents for allowing it? Would it be case by case, or would a precedent be set wherein only children who were transitioned before a certain age can have the ability to sue?

Personally I think that an age cap would be set for how old a child would have to had been at the time of the transition in order to have the ability to sue, with a few outliers or special cases sprinkled within. Certainly there will be cases like this in the future, if there aren't already.

Taking your kids to the beach isn't what I would call exposing them to sexuality, and not even full nudity unless it's a nudist beach (why the fuck would you take children there). Unless anything but a burqa is sexual to you.

informed consent = no grounds to sue. they will waste millions in medical resources on trying to accomodate their self-inflicted disability and that's the end of it.

If doctors have any sense they will have had all involved parties sign waivers saying 'if you end up regretting this shit it ain't my fault', and I don't think you could sue your parents for their shitty decision-making, otherwise it would happen for everything, not just trooning out; you'd have the burnt out emos who never grew up suing their parents for not stopping them cutting themselves as an edgy teen.

The thing I can maybe see happening is class-action lawsuits against the clinics who are currently churning out the propaganda misinforming people about what the realities of trooning out actually are, in which case parents and child would all be on the same side against those who willfully lied to them. I don't know a whole lot about lawsuits but 'for-profit corporation lying to make money' sounds like a pretty slam-dunk case.

For the most part though I think we'll see less lawsuits and more these people existing as a cautionary tale that will be forgotten within a few generations for the whole cycle to repeat again.

I don't mind being called a prude if I don't like the thought of kids being brought to current pride.

What I find the biggest problem with current Pride events is that the hyper sexualization of it along with the kind of people it gathers are actively damaging the LGBT community more than helping it. It enforces a lot of stereotypes around how people expect them to behave and makes people assume every member of the community is also like that. As I pointed out in my earlier post about it, current pride events actively hurt the image that those of the LGBT (more LGB) community are just like everyone else besides who they're attracted to. Why would people like an event that almost comes off as parody in its levels of enforcing stereotypes?
