Lemme tell you about award shows. They are a scam. Now it's no secret now that the big awards are made to promote their studios/artists/film. The same is true to small businesses. I've been part of it only as a support cog more than a decade ago. So you get small businesses to pay you money so they can get an award from you and some publication to stroke their ego and decorate their offices/waiting rooms. Say you're a dental clinic. Just pay me some money, sometimes in the guise of a subscription from our very exclusive magazine, and we'll have you attend our gala, get an award, and get a copy of our magazine that puts you in our top 10 or 50 list of business peoples. Derek however is getting rid of the prestigious part and given the nature of the award, the awardee might not have cared about prestige.

Like, in the movie he wrote a song where the villain sings about how coronavirus is a scam, but never explains why someone would believe that or what the goal of the scam would be. He probably heard about coronavirus denial in the media and put it in his movie because it's about coronavirus and coronavirus deniers bad.

He's like a child.
