DALLAs, TX – A teenager is in custody for the gruesome murder of a 4-year-old boy, police say.

On Saturday, around 6:50 a.m., officers received a call from a dog walker who found a dead child on the street in the 7500 block of Saddleridge Drive.

“That’s when I noticed the baby had ants at the bottom of his feet so I knew he was deceased then,” Antwainese Square told the Dallas News. “It was heart-wrenching because this baby could have been no more than 5.”

The boy was found with multiple wounds from what police called an “edged weapon.”

The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Darriynn Brown. He was arrested and charged with kidnapping and theft. Dallas investigators anticipate additional charges, pending results from a forensic analysis.

“A child was murdered through a violent act. We believe an edged weapon was used,” police executive assistant chief Albert Martinez told CNN. “Even us as police officers, we are shocked. We’re very angry about what has happened to the small child.”

“We will pursue justice, whoever did this, and bring some sort of closure — not only to his family, but to our community,” Martinez added.

“Through the hard work of the men and women of the Dallas Police Department this criminal was brought to justice and it would not have been possible without the Dallas FBI Evidence Response Team and the public’s assistance.”

Idk what that FB post is from but there’s no way that’s a “quote” from any Dallas police department employee.

“The mom might have been in on it”...and all the juiciest, darkest hood gossip about what they think the trash neighbors were up to isn’t something the police put out there. Good to know the neighbors of these degenerates have all the worst case scenarios ready to share on FB.

No cop is ever allowed to wildly conjecture a dead child was being pimped and raped in public before any charges have been filed.

I agree I think the Facebook post is pretty questionable because it doesn't appear on the Dallas PD Facebook page and even in the screenshot the PD's logo is mostly cropped out.

I mean maybe they dont all get shanked/raped to death. But I have no problem believing rapists, serial child murderers and their like are singled out and fucked with by everyone else, or even just a few people with lots of time on their hands.

They usually get put in protective custody with other nonces and snitches because that are easy prey. In fact, being in protective custody is one of the few ways other inmates might know you are a pedo, unless your case made a splash in the media. Pedos don't tend to be buff, tough guys with street smarts that can survive in prison. They tend to be little nasty shits that are easy pickings for the tougher prisoners looking for weak men to fuck with and use for money, drug mules, extra food, sex, etc.. so regardless of their crimes they are dead meat by virtue of being weak and scared. Also plenty mean prisoners were sexually abused as kids themselves and they are looking for some sweet revenge - that a legit thing for pedos to fear in jail.
 
A teen who was being monitored with an ankle bracelet has been arrested in connection with the death of a 4-year-old boy whose body was found in a Dallas street.

The child, who suffered multiple fatal wounds from what police say was an “edged weapon,” was identified Sunday by his grieving guardian as Cash Gernon, WFAA reported.

The “happy-go-lucky” boy was sleeping when a suspect, identified by cops as 18-year-old Darriynn Brown, barged into his home through a back door and kidnapped him on Saturday, his guardian said.

Brown is now charged with kidnapping and theft in connection to Cash’s death. He is being held on $750,000 bail, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Brown was busted for evading arrest in late April and the case is still pending, the newspaper reported. Court documents show he lived with his parents just a half-mile from where the boy’s body was found.

The accused kidnapper had been ordered to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet in connection to the prior charge, WFAA reported.

The boy’s grieving mom said she had no idea what allegedly led Brown to target her son, whose body was later discovered in the street by a jogger early Saturday. The teen suspect did not know Cash, his guardian told the station off-camera.

The boy, who suffered multiple wounds from what police say was an “edged weapon,” was identified Sunday by his mother as Cash Gernon.

Surveillance video also captured the kidnapping, the guardian added. Investigators asked neighbors Sunday for any additional footage to help them piece together what happened, WFAA reported. Some nearby residents told the station Brown was regularly seen in the city’s Mountain Creek section.

“Hard to believe,” neighbor Jose Ramirez said of the boy’s slaying. “I don’t think [Brown] was in his right mind.”

Cops scoured the neighborhood over the weekend after finding the boy’s body, Ramirez said.

“They were back in the alley, looking through trash containers to see if they could find any type of evidence,” he told WFAA. “They went down the street, and they spent a good time down there.”

Another resident, Katie Guillen, dropped off flowers at a makeshift memorial where the 4-year-old’s body was found.

“It’s just so sad that someone woke up this morning and lost their child without a warning,” Guillen said. “How do you throw away someone’s body like he’s nothing? He’s someone’s kid.”

Cash’s twin brother is now in state custody, his guardian told WFAA.

Dallas police said in a statement Sunday that Brown had been charged and that aditional charges are expected following a forensic analysis.

Brown was being held Monday at the Dallas County Jail, records show. It’s unclear if he’s hired an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

The boy, who wasn’t identified by authorities, was found shirtless and shoeless in the street and likely died before 5 a.m. Saturday, the Dallas Morning News reported.

He was discovered by Antwainese Square, 39, who was jogging in the neighborhood and initially thought a dog was in the middle of the street.

But then she saw the boy’s arms and legs.

“That’s when I noticed the baby had ants at the bottom of his feet. So I knew he was deceased then,” Square told the Morning News. “It was heart-wrenching because this baby could have been no more than 5.”

“We are shocked, we are very angry about what has happened to this small child,” spokesman Albert Martinez told the newspaper.

Brown’s stepfather declined to speak when reached for comment by the Morning News.
