I assume the Challenor debacle. Reddit hired a tranny activist as an admin and he took an active role in moderating youth communities. Kiwifarms and radfems and Glinner called him a pedophile (or at least pedophile adjacent) since his father raped a child and his boyfriend wrote pedophilic-erotific. We were called transphobic, but then the Reddit community as a whole started discovering this stuff and started speaking out. Reddit started cracking down on these communities and banning anyone who even said his name. Eventually the dam broke and they fired him, but still blamed the transphobes for it.

Kids could absolutely buy cigarettes, at least here in my part of the US. All the older millennials I knew got sent to buy smokes and beer for their parents and the store clerk just let them or even started smoking during their preteens. Everything before 2000 was weird.

It means that he is a man who LARPs as his idea of a woman, but because he is not a woman and not disposed towards femininity in any way, then it requires sustained effort to put up that facade. Therefore, he is "fluid," because he periodically lapses back into just behaving like the man that he is. The 'non-binary' reflects the fact that he isn't very good at (or is unwilling to put in much effort into) LARPing.
