It is generally viewed that it has moved past the point of hyperbole when they show up on your front door step from out of state.

Boogie's not going to jail. At worse he gets probation a fine and his guns taken away. Because Frank made internet death or violence threats and then crossed state lines to place himself in direct proximity to Boogie. What Boogie said regarding Frank not being a threat becomes irrelevant when Franks actions clearly mark him as such. It's stupidity all around.

I do wonder if his statements before and after the shooting would be used against him in his sentencing. The dumbass basically said he had a Mountain Dew sized thirst for murdering Hassle over and over and over again.

Theoretically the BATFE could come after Chad for allowing a prohibited possessor to have access (and subsequent use) of his firearm, as extremely unlikely as that may be to happen.

He wasn't a Jehovah's Witness or a Fuller Brush salesman. He had no legitimate purpose for being there and was solely trespassing to harass Boogie.

While I agree that the likely outcome is for Boogie to get the minimal punishment, I think we're ignoring the possibility that he gets the book thrown at him and spends a couple years in jail.

I think there is a real chance, albeit slim, that depending on the judge he might look at all this and come to the same conclusion "what a stupid asshole" and hit him with a harsher sentence just for how stupid this whole scenario is. Stranger shit has happened.

Big difference between will be and could. He definitely could get some minor charge, but probably won't at this point.

The judge can deviate from the grid guidelines, but has to justify an upward departure. In theory, he could give Boogie six years in prison. In actuality, I don't see any reason this is a particularly outrageous crime. It was stupid and reckless but nobody was actually hurt and the victim was acting like a complete cunt.
 
The year is 2035. Boogie survives jail by initially being too fat for rapists to get near. He's now jacked after 14 long years of being stuck in his cell, not being able to waddle to the prison cafeteria. Boogie buys a gun and announces he's on the hunt for Frank Hassle the day of his release.
