14-year-old Florida girl Alice Wagner has taken a stand against her school after her teacher accused her of wearing inappropriate clothing to class.

14-year-old Florida girl Alice Wagner has taken a stand against her school after her teacher accused her of wearing inappropriate clothing to class.

News4Jax reports that Wagner was suspended for ten days after she got into a heated argument with a female teacher she said made a snide comment about her outfit. “[The teacher] told me I was ‘letting them hang out for the whole world to see,’ as I was exiting the classroom,” Wagner said. “I went to the bathroom and I came back and I said, ‘You need to stop sexualizing 14-year-old girls.’ I grabbed my stuff and I removed myself from the situation.”

Following this, she went to the administrative office in hopes of contacting her parents, but school staff stopped her from doing so. "I don’t think it’s okay for her to talk to teachers that way,” her mother, Sarah Wagner, added. “But I understand why she was angry. She was basically sexually harassed by her teacher. … The teacher did apologize, she did understand what she did was wrong.”

Alice Wagner said that she believes she was “targetted” by her teacher because of her body. “Just because I have a little bit of breasts, I get targeted,” she said. Staff at the school alleged that her “undergarments” were visible in the outfit she wore, which she denied. Her teacher allegedly told her that she was “letting them hang out for the whole world to see.” The school itself has not publicly commented on the matter.

It's just common sense. In a just world, you could leave all your valuables in your car where they're easily seen and no one would touch them. But we don't live in said world. People need to get real about this.

Demystify and desexualize. We can't continue making women feel shame for having breasts without serious societal consequences.

Incidentally my graduating class never had this issue in middle/high school and there were a handful of big-titted chicks that wore spaghetti strapped tank tops. The guys just did their own thing during classes and then made comments to each other in private. The teachers didn't even give a shit.

Mind you this was the late 90's early 2000's when you were allowed to do things and have fun without repercussion. It wasn't till my senior year in high school when they started to mandate shit like the "no costumes on Halloween" policy.

Alright King Canute, you keep trying to change the whole of society. I'll be telling my daughter to keep it PG for her own sake because I can't be there to "educate" every boy and public school can barely teach them to read let alone be respectful so there's no hope there either.

The demographic that troons out the most i. e. rich white girls is the demographic that gets sexually harassed the least (compared to girls in, as an extreme example, illegal communities).

No. In any other era, growing women wouldn't be trying to get a plastic surgeon to carve their breasts off because of sexual harassment. They would become dykes and/or tomboys, and then maybe grow out of one or both of those by the time they came to terms with the reality of being a woman as well as what they could do to punish obscene behavior directed towards them/mitigate unwanted behavior.

It's not socially acceptable to comment on people's breasts despite the fact that people do so.

Also, this is... the worst plea for empathy you could have given. There were times in high school and college where I did get jabbed about my supposed penis size-- I wear pants on the slimmer side, and up until a couple of years ago I didn't realize I could wear pants with a slightly smaller waist size, so fabric would hill up a little near my groin in a way suggestive of my penis. I abided it-- it wasn't that big a deal for me. It might have even been that people found it more socially acceptable to say such things of me because they figured it would be a compliment by default rather than an embarrassing topic regardless of what they wanted to say.

I haven't any problem with disciplining people who make such obscene remarks-- it's totally inappropriate. But, again, the choices here aren't "bear your cleavage" and "wear a burqa" with nothing-- let alone nothing effective-- inbetween. If I don't wear a seatbelt before I drive, get rear-ended by a oil tanker going 80 in a 40, and get Rocketman'd, it's not my fault I got rear-ended and suffered this way, but I certainly could have bettered my odds by wearing my seatbelt.

Sometimes your life sucks, and you need to either adapt or make the world around you adapt instead of beseeching that same world to adapt for you without you doing anything.
