Summarizing, this 16 year old boy is/has:
  • Identifies as a lesbian; so, is heterosexual.
  • has mental health issues that are apparently not "stabilized"
  • Put on puberty blockers at 14 years old
  • Has difficulties envisioning the future (This is a very common opinion in both parents & therapists of young autists who want to troon out, probably related to introspective issues assoc. w/ autism due to impaired ToM)
  • "Flaky with self-care"
But it gets worse in the comments:
  • His parents are "following [his] lead at the moment," which is to say, failing at parenting.
  • She describes him as "impatient," "impulsive" and "close-minded" which is probably all quite true
  • He has "inattentive ADHD," is depressed, "flirting with an eating disorder," "experimented with cutting"
  • "It’s really really important to me that consistent therapy be part of the process- surgery will help her mental health tremendously but will not make all her problems go away. She’s super resistant to therapy, though, other than to get her letters of affirmation. I don’t think going to therapy while we wait for surgery is unreasonable... right?" [My emphasis] That's a quote.
It seems like his mother is in some sense aware that this is all deranged but she is a good, tolerant liberal who believes in spite of her not-so-lying eyes.

She isn't getting much helpful advice though, basically just clones of her son offering retarded advice. No one really grasps the actual crux of her concerns, which is that her son's thinking is clearly difficult to understand and that he is resistant to allowing his mother or a therapist understand what's going on.

I've also thought that if you're going to troon out, you should use a unisex name just for this reason. I don't know how it works in most countries, but at least in my country, your birth certificate (on a second page) will list all previous names. You can't hide you're a troon, but at least it won't follow you if you de-troon.

Cis men with that growth pattern tend to go clean-shaven rather than grow a patchy pube beard. FTMs refuse to shave, because they absolutely need the beard to pass, aesthetic value be damned.
 
One thing I will say, as I've browsed trans forums that aren't Reddit, have been around longer, and are filled with the old school AGPs and HSTS. They all show signs of sanity, and aren't afraid to call out younger troons or recently emerged AGPs and give them a reality check, who think they'll truly have a vagina and therefore need to be treated by a gynecologist, claim to have periods, or say shit that we document here every day. And honestly, I see quite a few more who realize the truly delusional and bizarre shit these newer AGPs and HSTS are spouting, and they absolutely, in those few rare spaces that still exist and they are the dominant ones, and really are ashamed of them, and do try to bring these people back down to reality. They try to be nice about it, but they still clearly state, you will always be a man, and surgery is completely cosmetic. We don't really become women.

These men, both AGP and HSTS, know that they are still men. They know they don't get periods and never will. They know their stinkditch is not a real vagina. They know it's suicidal to think they could ever get uterus transplants. While they suffer from a mental disorder, they aren't delusional. They know what they've done, they know why they do it, and they are able to not get completely enmeshed in the fantasy. Maybe it's because back in the early days of all of this, doctors told the patients, "We have no goddamn idea what's going to happen to you due to the HRT, you literally will never become the opposite sex, this surgery does not literally give you a vagina, and we really have no idea of how it's going to turn out, because we're literally just cutting off shit and trying to rearrange it to what hopefully looks like enough of a vagina for you. It's going to look a lot different from real women, and you know, we'll keep in touch secretly should you run into a problem, but seriously, this is experimental surgery."

Even therapists would be extremely discerning, and even though they knew it was an AGP, some would allow him to transition, however, would constantly remind them they will always be man, and literally all the shit I've already said. It's amazing that it was allowed giving delusional people free reign and affirmation of their delusions, society has now come to this.

This is why you don't allow the lunatics to overtake the asylum people!

Edit: I would really not mind giving troons their own bathrooms, partially due to the humanity and sanity I see from some of them. Obviously, allowing them into either bathroom freaks people out, so yeah, give them a troon only bathroom space. Thinking now, this clearly won't work, because of how predatory the MTFs are, and just how unconvincing a lot of FTMs are. Goddamn this shit is complicated. I feel if any woman, troon or not, wants to use the men's or troon's room, fucking let them. I don't want them to get hurt, but if they want to be men, then they can suffer the consequences.
