Tom will have plenty of time to visit the ranch as long as he can rent another vehicle. I can't believe the Tranch is so radioactive that even Tom can see it glowing in the dark from hundreds of miles away.
Crazy thing is, I do think if Tom got involved the situation would improve for the animals, if only because he's a dirty old hippie and there's a bit of rural experience in there somewhere. Tom getting involved would require the Tranchers to actually learn how to farm and put some effort into keeping their livestock alive, though, so it'll never happen.

i'm getting the impression that they're way too extremist and violent for my network's intentional communities. right now, i'm running in neutral gathering data. none of my main contacts have heard of them. they're either going to convince me that they're an embattled, legitimate rainbow commune that i'm going to try and focalize for or it's going to become obvious that they're insane, irresponsible freaks, the network needs to be warned about.
