Dull, inane conversations that drag on for hours.

Especially when someone is telling me the life story of someone they know, whom I will never meet, then goes down the rabbit hole of people that person knows.

I hate that I'm too polite to leave these conversations. I really need to stop keeping myself in them.
 
Had a general medical other day at a private clinic. I've noticed this numerous times, but it depresses/pisses me off how secretaries, aides, and related positions place zero emphasis these days on telephone manner/general politeness. So many times I've called up somewhere, or even been in person, and the secretary/receptionist, who is almost always a middle-aged woman, sounds like a filthy commoner dug up from a government welfare line. An inability to speak clearly and properly, passive-aggressive at times, or otherwise just snotty and shitty in general. This extends to any communications you might have via email with these people, who inevitably can't even write to a university level - something which in the past wasn't only desirable, but de rigueur.

Seriously makes me wonder where they dig these rejects up from. Had one leave me a voicemail the other day and I’m not exaggerating when I say I couldn’t understand a single thing the retard was saying. Sounded like if Mush Mouth from Fat Albert had a child with Boomhauer

Calling any company is a pain in the ass. Either they have a severe foreign accent, or they are quiet and hard to hear.
 
I hate it when bad people are treated like victims. I understand all that nice stuff about forgiveness, second chances, nobody's perfect, we're only human, and so on. But these days it seems like people are TOO forgiving. People are afraid to get mad at bad people or punish them. At least that's how normies in public, either offline or online, make me feel. You're not the second coming of Jesus because you're letting someone who is a belligerent asshole off the hook because you're under the misguided impression they'll magically reform or rehabilitate thanks to your leniency. It's even when worse when politics is dragged in. A piece of shit is a piece of shit no matter what walk of life they're from. There shouldn't be anything wrong with setting boundaries and expecting people to learn their lesson and get their shit together.

I get that no one is perfect. No shit! That shouldn't be an excuse to get worse or never try to improve at all ever.

I often wonder how those people scam their way into getting hired, provided they're not recommended/shoehorned into the position via a friend or a friend of a friend.

If the history of several lolcows, both new and old, on this site are of any indication, then maybe you can feel somewhat reassured that, most of the time, the big reason why people go to bat for blatantly shitty people is because they're trying to cover up or deflect from skeletons in their own closet as well.

And if that seems like a "normie" thing, it's because there's probably an increasing number of people with dirty laundry active in public forums (online and off).

They're probably work for welfare people. When I worked in corrections I noticed all the admin staff were obese, illiterate, barely comprehensible black women with shitty attitudes so I asked someone and that turned out to be the case.

I wouldn't sweat it. I guess to others, they must love that someone at least listens to their blathering. I can't stand the types that feel the need to make sure every conversation is this deeply profound (how redundant), eye-to-eye, soulful discussion and/or debate on literally anything and everything. I just want to spit a funny (to me) one-liner, or just bring something I know up while we talk. We don't need to shift gears and talk about this for minutes, going on hours.

Good point. Perhaps these white knighting normies are just afraid of being called out on their own bullshit once the human garbage is dealt with.

I feel like I wouldn't be pissed off if I knew I could count on society to hold shitty people accountable on a more regular basis than it currently does.
