We mostly received board games, as we could play them with our parents on Christmas day, having the free time.

I think the best of these was "Clue: Master Detective. It was Clue(do) with more rooms, suspects, and weapons. We all doodled in the notes section of the sheets. I still have that game with all the old doodles from the various sessions I've played with friends and family.

I got Bioshock on Christmas a while ago, along with a few cans of Pimp Juice.

I played straight with 1 break for dinner. Beat on hard mode within 16 hours.

Dat pimp juice, doe.

I remember getting the original Super Smash Bros. for the N64.

Played through the single player mode with Yoshi I believe.

I got the original Rome: Total War for Christmas back in the day. Felt great letting loose an army of flaming pigs against the Gaelic dogs .

When I was a teenager I got my copy of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VI on two separate Christmases. I had already played both of the games to some extent, and they were already out for years at that point, but the fact that I had them all to myself and I didn't have to share with or borrow from anyone else was really special.

There was a story on the news about how goddamn poor they were on some reservation, but the kids still had an NES. So that was finally the lynchpin in my arguments to get one for Christmas that year.

When I was 12, I got a Gamecube for Christmas along with a copy of Shadow the Hedgehog. I was very iffy about getting it because I actually asked for Sonic Adventure 1/2 and knew how 12-unfriendly Shadow the Hedgehog was. My dad then plugged the GC into the TV and insisted I play the game to see if it works.
It was real fucking awkward having my parents watch me play as Shadow shot the GUN soldiers and screamed "DAMN" every time he died. :slayer:

When I was a little kid I would get pirate CDs for Christmas. Lego Racers 2 on Christmas 2001 was so amazing when I had not much else.
Incidentally, me finding the project file for the CD label on the computer (my dad would create custom CD labels because he had the nifty kit for it) was how I found out that Santa is not real.

The only things that stand out for me in terms of Christmas Gaming Memories at the moment involve Call of Duty 2, Pokemon Emerald, and a game called Destroy all Humans: Path of the Furon.
Call of Duty had a funny little backstory that started a few months before Christmas.
I just started high school and made some new friends. Somehow I got dragged into teh Call of Dutys. Because my parents were big on the ratings at the time I asked my friends (through PM on youtube of all places) which T rated entries of the franchise were good. All of my friends helped out except one who decided to instead sperg out on the rating system.
When Christmas morning 2008 (?) came around I began to open presents and I opened up Call of Duty 2. In that moment I knew I was getting an Xbox 360, it was the cheapass arcade version but I was still glad. After finding a table to put my new gift on (my gaming tv was in a strange place), I tried out some multiplayer matches but gave up due to lack of people. By that time I gave my myself a headache and decided to play another gift, Pokemon Emerald. Of course this did not help my headache and I was out of it until morning.
On Christmas 2009 I got Destroy all Humans: Path of the Furon. Besides some glitches, this game is memorable to me because it taught me that HDMI is the way to go. The gaming TV I was talking about was a small CRT TV with composite inputs. It was good for my Gamecube and PS2 but not for certain 360 games.

Dead thread, but i wanted to share this real quick. I forget how old I was exactly, but my favorite Christmas Gaming Memory was getting the 25th anniversary red Mario Wii. I remember it coming with New Super Mario Bros Wii and Wii Sports, and at the time we basically had no video games at the house. Worst gaming memory would be when I asked for Sonic Unleashed and got Bee Movie instead lmao

I remember getting a PS1 for Christmas one year, and my dad wanted me to have at least one game to play on it so he took me to a flea market with a booth that sold games. I practically begged my dad for FF7 because I had played it before but was nowhere near finished and want to finish it. I then spent the rest of that Christmas vacation absorbed in the game, eternally grateful to my dad for indulging me.

I got Dragon Warrior II and Mega Man 2 for Christmas one year. I played Dragon Warrior II exclusively until I got to the cave that leads to Rhone, then after falling in a pit for the 100th time, I said "fuck this" and switched to Mega Man 2.

The NES Double Dragon and Super Mario 2 on Christmas morning back when it was new. Damn it was a good time.

Best Christmas I ever had was the year I got my Gamecube. Had some great games to go along with it, like Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Wario World, and Pikmin. Also got some other games that quickly became personal favorites, like Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, Taz: Wanted, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game based on the 2003 show.

Another favorite Christmas was the year before the one mentioned above, when I got Kirby 64, Rayman 2, Gex 3, and Banjo-Kazooie on N64. Those 4 games are still some personal favorites to this day.

One year I got a bunch of SNES games and one of them was Beavis & Butthead. It was my favorite because I loved the show as a kid and it was co-op, so I could play with my brother. It's a good game too, so I remember it fondly.

i remember when i got a 360 for charismas but asked my dad to trade it for a Wii, so he did. my brothers would fight who got play the console first and i let them at it because, i knew they both would lose interest after awhile and i would get it all for myself.

i remember it being one of the more comfy charismas.
