You're forgetting how mean words on the internet and posting archives of what their friends actually said is literally murdering them. I don't think they're worried about doing something illegal on 'the dark web', or whatever - just they don't want to be all cryn and shakin rn because someone here used a nono word.

A few possibilities:
1. They are pretending to not know for GBP.
2. They're lazy, but being lazy doesn't net GBP.
3.. They actually don't know and believe the stories about it being capable of doxing you upon entering the site.
4. They think a brave, burly transwoman will jump out of their closet and beat them up. In high heels.

It's normal to be bothered by hateful and mean-spirited words that denigrate entire communities. What's not normal is them acting like they're morally superior because they don't like seeing racial slurs getting in the way of them bullying a woman for being fat.
