It is both sad and hilarious how this clip stays relevant after all these years.
The CN brand has really been taking big hits in the last few years; I shudder to think what other IPs would be on the chopping block for abuse. At least Ed Edd n Eddy is safe, as far as I’m aware.
Danny has total control over the rights for that IIRC, so yeah it's safe.

This shit is going to backfire spectacularly. There's already some SJWs replying to that tweet talking about how racist it is. :story:
It doesn't even require being an SJW to see how utterly racist this is. There are probably Klansmen saying hey, we're racist too, but you're kind of overdoing it, chill out a bit with this extreme racism.

I'll bet they're going to make Fuzzy Lumpkins a Trump reporter.

Speaking of which, who looks at a show that has a character like Fuzzy Lumpkins and thinks it would make for a good 'serious' remake?
Well, whichever galaxy brain at the CN who okayed this did, apparently.

Modern pop culture really is just becoming one giant fucking cesspit best ignored.

It's game over, time to catch up on the good stuff from the past we missed ("if you haven't seen it, then it's new to you!") or revisit old favorites we haven't experienced in a while.

You could definitely do a live action Powerpuff Girls, but a "serious" one?

You could do an "adult" but comical take on it ala Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law, but again, a "serious" one?

Either of those takes would be interesting but to do serious is just dumb, superheroes tend to be character you can use many different tones but in this case it's like doing a serious reboot of Blankman.

I always thought Adult Swim style takes on CN's own shows would have been cool, but not in this current cultural climate.

Yeah, you did. Honestly the only way that this could be worse for them is if Mojo was in this, played by a black dude, and had the special power to turn into an ape by shouting "It's Chimp Out Time!" at the top of his lungs.
Gotta disagree with you there cause that sounds hilarious. I would absolutely watch that.

I didn't say it wouldn't be funny or worth watching if they did that, I said it would be worse for them, with the "them" being the CN people in charge of this fucking abortion given the audience they're trying to attract.

I for once am ecstatic and euphoric for the up-and-coming Bleedman CW Universe.
I feel tempted to create a drinking game about how many unintentional similarities this is going to share with the work of loli respecter.

Or yelling out, "Go, monkey, go!"

I think I’ve spent more streaming on older TV shows than anything new.

On the subject of a live action PPG; it really is a show that does not translate to well to real life format, at all. But if you absolutely had a to make a live actions PPG, people have pointed to The Tick as much more fitting to the spirit of the show. A PPG show like that would be very tongue in cheek, lighthearted, and most importantly, self aware. It could have been a good example of a show growing with the audience.

Instead, they went baffling route of being an Arrowverse/Riverdale clone a few years too late.

At least Bleedman respected the source material despite his edgy takes and thinly-veiled fetishes and told somewhat of an engaging plot (at first, it sure got messy later).

Well, the primary thing about a PPG show is that you have to keep the girls as kids, since even if you aged them up to elementary / primary school age, as a lot of what made the PPG unique is that they're superhero children. They have to adhere to a different reality of being barely old enough to be potty trained while shooting lasers from their eyes and stuff like that.

I feel like a possibly good comparison could be made to Doom Patrol, I've only made it up through episode 2 but it balances the tragic dark stuff with comedy that doesn't give the 4th wall an ounce of respect. In fact, I actually got spoiled about it some time ago before watching so I know what the Chief's deal is, which is comparable to what Plutonium is being set up for here, but the major difference is that all the members of the Doom Patrol are both horribly flawed people while at the same time have genuine moments of humanity that reaffirm they are, ultimately, good individuals to root for...unlike the adult PPG where it's pretty clear 'bitch' is all they have going for them. Chief also wasn't set up for years in real time as a loving father figure only to suddenly be revealed to be staging everything for the girls to fight.

Hey, remember how they had the original costumes in that principal photography shoot?

Yeah, I'm positive that was the flashback sequence where the end up killing Mojo and then break up the group.

Here's what I'm certain their ACTUAL main appearance is supposed to be based on this newly released advertisement.

Everything about Cartoon Network started going down hill when they stopped doing the What A Cartoon Show. Had helped launch the Power Puff Girls, Courage The Cowardly Dog, and even was part of the origins of Family Guy.

Though honestly with the Power Puff Girls live action I really think it'll be as serious as Charmed was, which while it had some semi-serious moments, also had episodes like the one where a character makes her breasts larger.

Given the network the show is going on, they probably are just trying to appeal to teenage girls and those that aspire to be them (soyboys and middle aged women). It'll have the mild seriousness of the girls dating, with constant quips like they're in a Marvel movie, and otherwise be mostly mediocre like Charmed was.

Well any doubt that Buttercup is the gay one has been completely thrown out the window.

It’s like they’re trying to be as far removed from the source material to purposefully piss off fans.

Why does Buttercup look like a sharply dressed highschool boy.
