Al Sharpton made his career being a whiny bitch and race-baiting. He is one of the biggest racists of our time and he gets away with it constantly. If I had a magic lamp with 2 wishes, it would be to replace Sharpton on the ground instead of Floyd and then I'd wish that Chauvin had 2 more knees to make sure he got the job done.

Agreed except I hoped Chauvin would be some weird spider demon with 8 knees, all of them on Sharpton's neck, and instead of Minecraft it was in reality.

Also didn't a young ben shoahpiro who wasnt married to a doctor yet get him flustered calling him out for this exact thing lol

Been away today boys. Can someone give me a quick rundown of today?
Allegedly first half of the trial today was boring, then Nelson slam dunked the "Floyd couldn't breath n shit because of da knee" narrative when talking to the man who did the autopsy and everyone died laughing or kvetching

Apparently there's also some shit about Al Sharpton and taxes.

I will say I am quite looking forward to the Defense's witnesses. Nelson has been dealt a shit hand but he seems pretty damn good at his job

That started during Vietnam. GWOT just renewed it for a new generation.

Edit: then in went away once Obama was elected, and the pozzing of the Officer Corps picked up.
Of course, the Iraq war was just Vietnam 2: Desert Edition.

Things did cool off as far as anti war movements go under Obama, but the idea that America was rotten to the core remained and especially because of the Great Recession and Trayvon Martin and so on grew and grew into the "decolonize" mindset you have today.

Vietnam and the Civil Rights movement.

America as Evil Empire has been going in and out of style for over 50 years, and the latest wave is absolutely built on some of the thinking of the earlier waves.
Yes of course, I was just saying the modern incarnation started in a big way with the Iraq war after waxing and waning for decades.

But now what has happened is a great "coalescing" among the left wing, all the different schools of thought, all the different intensities and variations, it's all now being boiled down, has coalesced into one single school of thought with one single agenda and that's "fuck America and fuck white people" aka Woke, intersectionality, SJW etc.

And the agenda is nothing less than the complete dismantling of the government of the USA as we've known it for 245 years into some entirely new system of government.

Whatever moderates may still exist on the left are being pushed out by the day and this trial is going to be yet another wedge issue to force left leaning people to either swallow the Blue Pill (aka Woke) or swallow the Red Pill.

It's actually crazy that The Matrix coined the Blue Pill, Red Pill metaphor over 20 years ago because it perfectly describes this great "coalescing" happening in American politics where it's boiling down to just one thing or the other, it's boiling down to a single question of "do you want the USA to continue to exist and do you not want white people to openly be second class citizens?"

If Chauvin walks it's going to continue to push the left down the path that we need special laws that only apply to white people and not an equal justice system, call it "you made black people angry so you have to go to prison regardless of what you did or didn't do" laws.

Accurate, but kinda burying the lede by not mentioning that we were also treated to another combover masterpiece, this time by the ME.

So Floyd wasn't strangled to death by a knee on the back of his neck and he wasn't put into a blood choke. At worst, he couldn't expand his chest to breathe properly because of several different factors that, individually, were safe procedures. Additionally, he would have been fine if he hadn't had several contributing health problems including having just downed a bunch of fentanyl.

Do I have this right based on the testimony so far? As a reminder, this is just after the prosecution has finished their case.
Plot twist, Momma choked him to death with her mind

Curious, if he is acquitted, what happens to the other cops when their trials begin? I’d imagine defense can point to this trial for a dismissal or or acquittal
In Baltimore, they tried cop after cop after cop with the Freddie Gray bullshit trials. They even tried the bike cop Officer Rice on a slew of charges (involuntary manslaughter, assault, etc) just for arresting Gray for his illegal knife.

Minnesota will probably do the same thing to the other three cops, even if Chauvin is acquitted on all charges. They're desperate for convictions over Floyd for political reasons.

it was worse than vietnam imo

with vietnam there was an actual tangible goal and purpose to the war: contain the spread of communism. it was not achieved, but everybody knew and understood why the war was being waged.
with iraq, the only tangible war goal (remove saddam and dismantle his regime) was achieved almost immediately (took like a month total) but after that there was years and years of endless occupation with absolutely no real purpose, no goal, no objective. just a never-ending sitting around in the desert, with american soldiers getting shot and blown up by IEDs every other day, all for nothing, and absolutely nobody had any clue about why the fuck america was sending its sons to die in the desert like that, it was just a pointless exercise in futility.

I think there's a difference between then and now.

During Vietnam, you had the Soviet Union as a sworn enemy, which caused the general public to hate the New Left, or at least the more radical openly communist segments of it.

With GWOT, there was no common enemy outside of a vaguely defined Islamic terrorist threat while Dubya leaned hard on being the president for neocons and the widely detested Religious Right and this climate slowly led to the rise of the Woke Left in its current form.

The Woke Left's fetish for communism comes partly from the Great Recession making them associate capitalism with corporatism and neoliberalism and partly because of the "America Bad" mindset.

Unlike the Silent Generation, Boomers, or Generation X, the typical Millennial or Zoomer doesn't remember the Soviet Union and likely was born after it collapsed. So they can easily dismiss any atrocities as "Western imperialist propaganda" or go full AnCom and say "Not real communism!"

It doesn't help that the neocons, fundies, and traditionalists draped themselves in patriotic affectations during the Bush years when a lot of SJW's were in their formative adolescent rebellion years.

Interesting day. Next week is going to be quite a ride if this is what the prosecution could muster.

In some ways Iraq was worse, in some ways it wasn't.

I'm not a historian expert on the wars, but I would say the actual fighting in Vietnam was more intense, Iraq was more of a slow burn, the impact Vietnam had on US society was more immediate and bigger because nothing like that had happened before, the impact Iraq had was more delayed, basically we had the 60s style anti war movement in the 2000s, but we didn't have the hippie style cultural revolutions until the 2010s.

But it all happened again, JFK, Vietnam, civil rights, hippies, then we had 9/11, the Iraq war, BLM and SJWs.

The fact that history repeated itself so perfectly is actually quite eerie, but we know what the outcome was for the 60s and 70s, it's yet to be seen what the outcome will be for the 2000s and 2010s and history may not repeat itself this time (ie everyone just calms the fuck down moves on) but could be something quite different, the 2020s are going to be a real sink or swim time for the USA.
