Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

If I became a mod I feel that would undermine my ability to freely post what I want as I'd be held to different standards and that would cause problems. I want to focus on making content, informing people or challenging people's ideas, not cleaning up after people or pissing off sections of newfags with hot takes that they could see as being endorsed by the site because of the badge.
I certainly know how annoying it when you see a mod such as @Gustav Schuchardt shitting up threads with half baked takes. Inevitably gaining that badge changes how people see you and people become more afraid to challenge you. It would be less fun for me.

Tl;dr me becoming a mod would be a loss for everybody, pls stop the only thing I want is my reporting ability back so I can help clean up A&N.
Not to mention Null doesn't want to and asking about it anymore will probably annoy him.

Who the fuck is recommending you for mod? That's the dumbest idea. Ban those people.

That's exactly what I said in the post directly above yours. Why does Null hire blind people to moderate his site? How do blind people even moderate a forum?

I have a proposal.

We all love CatParty threads, and the new prefix is hilarious.

We need an APC prefix, and of course it has to be a maple leaf.
 
I feel like a lot of redditors are here lately. Since I go through a typical thread these days, and theres paragraphs and paragraphs of people giving their hot take, when they have no new info or specialized knowledge. When in years past I typically saw just infodump, funny meme, contextual infodump. Maybe its just the fact there are more people here now?
