Riley says he's not interested in pressing charges on it because he thinks it's be a legal wash, according to the cops. He's under the impression throwing the first punch negates self defense on the entire thing, even though Ralph was trespassing after being told he wasn't allowed on the property, let alone in the house. The fact Ralph was egging them on to go out to the public sidewalk confirms he knew he couldn't be on the property.
