I think he realized at the last minute just how much of a really fucking bad idea it was, but couldn't bear to abort in front of the cameras.

The last part where they're measuring the dent he left in the ground made me laugh

The baby died due to the severe injuries of hitting the asphalt. I believe they either died in the ambulance or at the hospital

BTW, does anyone have that one webm where there's two black guys and a girl in a car? The girl is playing with the gun, accidentally fires at one of the guys's noggin and blood starts flowing down onto his shoulder. I saw it before but forgot to save it.
