the certificate the guy mentioned from china would be nice to have in regards to the silver but regardless. Just want muh kiwicoin mang.

Call me a paypig, but I'm fine with paying a premium for some silly memorabilia. Even if it's from China. My preference is that they are struck in England, but I'm not going to not buy it if they're done in China.

Unless the cost is prohibitive for you.

Not every round struck in china is counterfeit but a considerable amount of the counterfeit ones come from china and I think the odds of getting stainless steel rather than sterling silver are exponentially increased when you are doing a custom run like this one, if you are buying standard rounds through a reputable dealer they know that gypping you will ensure that they don't see business again, they yid a one time run like this? Virtually no risk.
 
Buying something made in China isn't a problem in itself, I'm just opposed to lining some perfidious Celestial's pockets by paying silver prices for lead. At that rate, why not just make challenge coins out of base metal and sell them at a huge markup, so the money at least goes to Dear Leader?

CCP sucks but most of my computer's parts were made in chinkland. Kinda bummed because I actually was setting aside for this.
 
Well open invitation: if you can find me a company with a strike cost that is competitive enough I can still mark it up, let me know.

I'd prefer to sell silver because it's a precious metal that everyone recognizes. Copper is far less impressive and interesting and the strike price is probably going to be the fucking same regardless of if its gold or silicon.

Saw some video somewhere (I found it https://youtu.be/R2paSGQRwvo?t=606 , at 10mins) about medieval coin making that a guy does by hand (Just smash die into metal with a hammer). I'm sure someone on the site has the tools/skills to make a couple of dies, or you fund the profession making of some, idk.

I'd say Null already has plenty to do running this place.

I'm also sorry it doesn't look like there will be any coins. Instead, how about T-shirts with the front of the planned coin on the front and the back of the planned coin on the back of the shirt? Surely that's doable, at a better price than a coin. Was prepared to buy a coin, so you know Uncle Joe would go for a shirt. The last two shirts I've bought have been of excellent quality, hold their color well.
 
Allright, I wasnt going to say anything but @Professor Monkey brought it up. I make retard coins like that for my larp, and I'm willing to strike coins/make dies for the forum if we are that desperate. My hand engraving skills are still trash but I have friends in manufacturing that could cnc engrave dies for me. I'll sperg more if it is of any interest.

I've found a company in Indochina willing to strike at $4.30 per coin and the dies are only $900 for both. Lets do it. Going to finalize the designs this weekend. Once things are moving we'll do pre-orders. The dies are going to take about 2 weeks to make and that's when I'll run.

Troy ounce Panda coins are some of the finest, and high quality silver is a tradition, but there is a risk of fakery.

Indochina? Unless Null has a time machine he means either Vietnam or a mispelt Indonesia.
 
Featured on Mar 19, 2021 by Null: Silver rounds: designs finalized, sending off to the bullion company this weekend. Sales may start as early as next week.
I'll be finalizing the designs with the artists this weekend, this is probably our final designs, and if they're approved I will start sales as early as next week.

Price will be Spot + $6.50 manufacturing fees + ~$10 profit, so $16.50 over spot. That's quite a lot but keep in mind this is a thing to help pay for the fucking lawyers.

My only concern is the text. I feel like something about the way the text is presented, or the text itself, should change.

We may be changing it to "Ex Veritate, Cum Probitate". We'll likely be changing it to "Mind your business".

Very recently I learned of a phrase coined on the Continental Coin created by Benjamin Franklin: "Mind your business"

I like it. Despite its historical value and obvious meaning, it retains value as a contemporary expression. As an added bonus, it has a ironic quality to it when stamped in association with this site.

I'm curious if anyone can make "Mind your business" work on the design (design into current kiwi rounds, not the other way around).



Timeline:

This weekend, I'd like to get finalized vectors of the designs. We're fussing over the corn lasers. The final motto will be 'mind your / business'. The only thing that looks like it may change is the corn silk. It is an important part occupying negative space of the rounds, but something making it look more natural is desired.

Next week, I hope to get the designs approved by the mint. This starts the process of creating 'dies', or the stamps used to mark blank rounds.

Once the designs are approved, I will commit to the order by buying the dies (approximately $1000 together) and 500 ounces of silver.

The sale will start at this point. If Chris is interested, I will advertise it on Chris's social media in exchange for some silver based off sales from that traffic. If sales exceed 500 rounds, I will buy more silver.

The full process of stamping these rounds will take 6 to 8 weeks.

After they are stamped, they will be shipped from Asia. I am debating how to do final deliveries. I am thinking the best chance I have is to drop ship it to Australia, the EU, and the US. An individual will fulfill orders.

I will keep any struck rounds that aren't sold.

How about bronze? It can be brought to an impressive sheen and is not expensive as a material. Probably the strike price would be nearly identical.
 
@Null i'm surprised you didn't know of the "Mind your business" phrase. i'm dumb as shit and somehow i knew about it. finally, i am superior.

also as always, i'll be standing by and waiting to throw money at things i don't need

edit: actually while i'm @ing you, wouldn't it make more sense for the Featured Content on the front page to be listed so that the newest thread is at the top?
