All of this bullshit was solved on the PS2 with skippable cut scenes. Valve did in engine crap with it's big sellers and it became the defacto way to tell a story. Left 4 dead is the only valve series which got the story right. It's there for an intro, an outro and banter in the middle.

Anyways somewhat related they apparently westernized Dragon Quest's designs to appeal more to westerners. A scenario that I long wanted to see for an outcome is actually happening. They didn't make them look like final fantasy characters but looks closer to the 3d Lupin character designs, not quite quasi-disney/pixar either but it's a weird middle ground. But at least it's not suffering like Dragon Quest 11 was where they get mistaken for Dragon ball characters from the normies.

It does. It doesn't get rid of them from your discovery queue (Assuming you even use that feature) however it cleans the shop of any game with the blacklisted tags including searches, you really have to go out of your way to buy something blacklisted.

On the other hand the "Adult only sexual content" checkbox only gets rid of porn, sexual content such as the one found on cyberpunk 2077 or the witcher falls under "Nudity or sexual content" and is unaffected by the check.

Because they're too expensive and small studios get caught up in the bigger ones games. Instead of making Driver games you can make the Driving element in all our open world games. Instead of making a shooter game you can make the shooter part of all our open world games. So on and so forth. Small studios become sub developers instead of middle market creators.

I blame Epic and a few gatekeepers for turning the indie market into one big, stagnant cool kids tree house where ideas are recycled and everyone gets a free handjob with minimal effort.

The console and AAA market is different, from my perspective it would seem like development companies have adopted risk based practices, as such it's no longer enough for them to work on high risk projects that may turn a profit but rather focus on low risk projects that will definetely generate said profit,. In effect what this means is that you won't be seeing 3D platformers or spectacle fighters but you will surely see Fifa, with royalties, publishers and competing marketing budgets gatekeeping any small or medium sized development firm that may pose a threat to the market.

While this sounds good on paper for them I'm starting to question the sustainability of it in the long run, at the moment the only publisher that I can 100% confidently say is doing great is THQ Nordic and honestly they haven't changed their previous business model in the slightest, focusing on publishing whatever comes their way (Which is what originally sank them mind you) while keeping their dev team on low risk, medium sized projects.

Well you really can't compare, because violent actions in games would lead to violent actions in real life every time someone played a violent game and it would need to be like 90% to establish causation and correlation.

We went from no blood in the shower to the evil dead remake having it rain blood in the finale because people adapted to the media they were consuming and had to be pushed further and further.
