Someone who knows more about these things than me could interpret it better, I'm not really sure what to make of it. The darkness on the hands and brightness on the stinkditch could mean that the hands were 'shopped on top like you suggest, though the compression doesn't help. Yes and no. He apparently has half-siblings, also in the Vancouver area. They seem to swim in the better end of the gene pool, as they have zilch to do with Jonny and Miriam. I feel for them.
