‘Mandalorian’ Star Gina Carano Under Fire for Controversial Social Media Posts​

Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune on both seasons of Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian,” garnered backlash on social media Wednesday after sharing several controversial posts on her Instagram story.

Carano shared the posts on her story late Tuesday night. One of the posts she shared compared today’s divided political climate to Nazi Germany.

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views,” the post, which was originally made on a different Instagram account, read.

Another photo on Carano’s story featured a person with several cloth masks covering their entire face and head. The caption said “Meanwhile in California.”

Both posts were removed from Carano’s Instagram story Wednesday afternoon. Other posts, including a quote saying “Expecting everyone you encounter to agree with every belief or view you hold is fucking wild” and one saying “Jeff Epstein didn’t kill himself,” remained.

Many people on Twitter began using the hashtag #FireGinaCarano, tagging accounts for Disney, Disney Plus, “Star Wars” and Lucasfilm and requesting that Carano be dropped from “The Mandalorian.”

Carano has courted social media controversy before, previously sharing misinformation about mask wearing and voter fraud. In November 2020, she made light of people including their preferred pronouns on social media by adding “beep/bop/boop” to her Twitter bio, which many fans called out as transphobic. Carano later removed the words after she said she spoke to her “Mandalorian” co-star Pedro Pascal. “He helped me understand why people were putting them in their bios. I didn’t know before but I do now. I won’t be putting them in my bio but good for all you who choose to. I stand against bullying, especially the most vulnerable & [support] freedom to choose,” she wrote at the time.

Representatives for Carano and Disney did not respond to Variety’s request for comment.

This is legitimately amusing. Why is this “controversial”?

1) Who is Pedro Pascal to dictate and lecture others on who should and should not be bullied?
2) Carano still won’t have anyone standing up for her if she keeps thinking that social media users represent what’s left of the Star Wars fan base.

Gina Carano should be a role model in how to get shit done in life. She was Ronda Rousey before Ronda Rousey. World champion in mma at 145lbs and a true ticket seller, had some weight issues. Got into it because she and her boyfriend had been drinking one night and decided to do kickboxing for fun. In the gym a thai trainer said "baby you fat" because she had some weight issues, she got so mad that she trained hard enough to become the first face of women's MMA. After that she did stunts/acting(they didn't let her talk in Deadpool for a reason, forget about Soderberg), then finally acting in Star Wars. "but her social media posts!" yeah maybe she's a real human from a normal background voicing her thoughts in a public forum used by normal people. It's like she's not [PRODUCT].

edit: Gina Carano have done a lot for herself and a lot for women. More pushes to cancel her because she offended AGP's last year is some bullshit(notice how the article says that made up pronouns is transphobic, it's not phobic against the other 78 made up genders, it's just about troons)

Often with the pronoun game and this stuff, if you aren't exposed you don't understand.

It is just her being unPC. Remember with the current day, anything that isn't pro woke, is seen as working to uphold oppression. Which is why you're not allowed to make harmless jokes about it.

She didn't though, she's comparing political climate to that of the past. She's correct in her thinking in the end, nobody is just turned a racist/other buzzword in a day. It's instigated, controlled, and made into a culture. People conditioning other people to be anti-Semitic is comparable to conditioning people to think/act literally any other way.

It's been fairly consistent for a few months now. I'm not even sure exactly where it started, I've heard it was because she refused to put pronouns in bio, that it was because of her anti-mask tweets, that she's a closet homophobe super nazi, the usual shit. They're throwing everything they can think of at her at such a pace that I wouldn't be surprised if they resort to accusing her of sexual assault or dredge up someone to swear they heard her say "nigger" once in 7th grade so they can get her canceled by the thought police.
Really I'm surprised as hell that Disney hasn't axed her yet, knowing them they're waiting for public outcry to grow enough that they can avoid the messiness of firing a woman in current year.
