This sounds like what happened in Michigan withing the past couple of weeks. After Governor Whitmer stated that the "numbers/science" didn't justify lifting of restrictions in place at the time, angry parents gathered for a protest outside the Capitol building and then filed a lawsuit last week demanding that the four winter sports on hold be allowed to resume. All of a sudden, the numbers that prevented these sports from starting suddenly were such that those sports could resume tomorrow (08-Feb). TL;DR - Politicians are mealy-mouthed and will use the data to justify their own personal opinions in a confirmation bias sort of way.

Although it's hidden behind a paywall, the area's Sunday paper had an op-ed piece where the author pointed out a number of the contradictory facts people have heard over the past 11 months from so-called experts. The takeaway is that these contradictory directives without any sort of explanation or basis for them have confused people so much that they've become frustrated to the point that they end up choosing the path of least resistance in not taking precautions because it's easier than trying to figure out what they should or shouldn't be doing.

I'd say that Governor Brown deserves to be recalled just for signing off on these dumbass commercials.
It hasn't been cute to make these "feelgood" and "silly" advertisements since June, now it honestly angers me.

Idaho is the fastest growing state in the country so next time there's a scamdemic with COVID-29 or whatever your future governor will trust in the Experts and Science and make commercials like that for the sake of the Boise Bugmen and their mini-San Francisco/mini-Portland.
