Only Dennis knows the stories he's been passing around? Wow, sounds like he is doing a really bad job at passing them around if he is still the only person who knows about them after ten years of it. If I had someone trying to spread false stories about me who was so spectacularly bad at it, I wouldn't get angry about it and start hunting for conspiracies. I'd sit back and laugh at them for wasting their time.
