Surprised? Nope.

Jim Sterling was fairly good in 2016 and 2017 when he would point and laugh at some of the utter shite that finds its way onto Steam and similar, and his porn parody reviews where he narrated the action in lurid terms with a totally straight face were pretty funny. Even as late as 2018 he came out with some interesting and informative things. And his reviews were often fair minded especially of second string stuff. He did dig out a few games which he thought were going to be just a meme but which turned out to be genuinely competently made as well and was prepared to say as much.

Unfortunately... he started to believe his own hype. It was like he actually became the arrogant twat end that he played as his character. Everything devolved into "gaming is fucked because capitalism bad" and oversimplifying things into clickbait.

I'm betting he's had a falling off of viewership and needed to get attention.

Also, I suspect he's decided to be "non binary" because he doesn't have the balls to do it and get the pickle inversion.

Now that I think of it, we haven't heard Jim's female voice yet. Will it be just like that terrible french nobleman character he player in some videos?
The trooning out might actually work because this is the first time in years that I'm excited for a Jimquisition.
 
This’ll be shit show that I’m 100% invested in now, actually looking forward to the newest Jimquisition for the first time in like 5 years for completely different reasons

This is the timeline as I understand it as I'm mainly going from memory as someone who used to listen to his podcast (yes I'm a fag I know).

  • About 10 years ago give or take Jim moves to the US and marries a Mississippian landwhale who already has a son. Jim proudly tells the world that they're in a open relationship and that this is the way to go.
  • Early 2020 Jim moves to Philadelphia to be closer to his autistic wrestling organization and brings his video editor/boytoy Justin with him. It's clear that they live together because Justin cameos in a lot of Jim's dumb sketches. What isn't clear is where his wife and wife's son is but it's a safe guess they didn't move with Jim.
  • In Summer 2020 Jim officially becomes a US citizen. At this point he hasn't mentioned his wife on social media/podcast in years and even though the wrestling orgnization he moved for shut down (lol) Philadelphia seems to be where he's staying.
So Jim lives several states away from his wife and is seemingly happy with his live-in boytoy. I think it's a safe assumption that they're at the very least separated if not outright divorced. The reason I included Jim getting citizenship is that it's possible Jim only married for a green card and once Jim became a citizen then the relationship served no purpose for either of them.

Having seen this pattern among reviewers and "geek culture" so many times I feel the need to list some bulleted hypothesis as to why these people slip into insanity in the same ways. Tell me if any of this gels.

-Working from home. Staring at a screen daily, waiting for numbers to go up with very little feedback why a video you made is or is not getting enough views knowing that your livelihood could go away very fast if you can't figure it out is incredibly stressful. It seems even when making over 10,000 a month, the constant stress of uncertainty eats away at these people.

-Bad relationship. Many are familiar with Jimbo's love life. Being tied to a tumblrina that got big by eating tumblrinas that cheats on zem and gets off humiliating zem in public would drive anyone to insanity. Coupled with the unwillingness of most modern men to make peace with the idea of being alone places them in the same psychological situation as a captive, caged, animal. Miserable, but so institutionalized that they fear what's outside slightly more than being trapped.

-Career entrapment. Similar to the above and assuming truth in Josh's speculation about Jimbo's love of videogames long since dying, zey feel trapped in an unfulfilling job. While it would be possible for many to quit their current work and look for greener pastures, the public nature of the work renders finding another job difficult, though not impossible. However, the cage, while hated is also made of gold. Zey lack the courage to leave and subconciously resent themselves for their cowardice.

The overall theme is being trapped. Trapped at home, in a shit relationship, and in a job that is agony to perform. Unwilling to brave the outside, they instead try to change themselves in a vain hope for contentment. Of course, fundementally changing your outlook, drive, or temperament is difficult and a caged animal is, if nothing else, lazy. So instead, superficial changes are made.

Na, it's just arrested developement. Troons never get to the point where a mature person accepts things at face value and that you simple are what you are. It's a kind of magical thinking.
The average mental age of most millenials is somewhere between 12 and 16. Excessive consumerism and hyper-individualism seal the deal.
