In the latest development, the guy making the tweet got called out in a Twitch internal meeting. Their amazing take on the situation is that "the community just doesn't understand"

Then you have smarty pants in the replies saying "You just can't use the word to harass someone", because you use the words "simp", "incel", "virgin" without a subject attached to it.
is "fag" still allowed?

According to Slasher, you won't be able to use the words "simp", "incel" and "virgin" on Twitch anymore as they'll be against Terms of Service. This includes emotes that relate to simps in any way.

What the fuck is going on at Twitch?
Because their biggest money maker is 'Just Chatting' where girls just wear low cut tops and pretend that they'll date men in their chat. They're all simps, incels and virgins, so Twitch doesn't want to chase them off, because they're currently the sites biggest moneymaker. It has nothing to do with anything else, just protecting pay pigs so they can squeeze as much money as possible for them

People will just come up with other ways to call these simps, incels and virgins what they are. And if they ban those no-no words, they'll come up with yet more. All this does is force people to be more creative when insulting simps, incels and virgins. It's a good point, though. I wondered why these words in particular. It's a weird selection if you're trying to protect the thots. They're trying to protect the paypigs.

>Twitch says it will ban all words like simps, incels, and virgin

>The guidelines say nothing on the word nigger

Just Chatting is the entire reason we don't have Maid Cafes in the west. Men go to those establishments because they just want normal human interaction, Just Chatting does the exact same thing. There are so many neglected people that they're desperate just to have someone of the opposite sex talk to them.

I miss when twitch was primarily about video games.

I don't see twitch having a big problem with smoking
well, they clearly have a problem with naggers...

if that's the case, we should reclaim "Queer~" as a slur

However what I kind of wonder/worry is whether or not adding trannies characters will become the "next big thing" as part of the woke project, or is it too unprofitable to do it?
Both.

Troons are the next big thing in social justice circles, but social justice as a while might be dying off as an ideology pushed in media. Capcom recently went woke, but everywhere else it seems to be either receding, or have social justice so entrenched that the whole company will crash and burn before they give it up.

Films are the easier example. Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Cuties. They go woke and get a lot of hype on social media, but it doesn't translate into sales short term, and damage the brand long term. This can be seem most clearly in games like The Last of Us 2 and Deadly Premonition 2.

It's the next big thing but once they're added in a media - as we saw with Cyberbug 2077 - it will still be "problematic" to them because if they are normalized, then they cease to be special. It's narcissism, this is also why you see more crap about pronouns, they love to shout stuff like: "transwomen are women" but the second you call them "she", it's the end of the world because ackchually it's they/them, they want the privileges that come with being a woman but they also want to remain the center of the attention.
In terms of storytelling, having a tranny character is a problem because unlike heterosexual or gay characters, the story has to be put on hold just to acknowledge that this particular character is a tranny.

Then again child me formed my views on gender by reading a crap ton of Heinlein and then believing the exact opposite because of how batshit it was.
Oh god, that guy is seriously dumb with that shit, even for his time.
I got a book in bookcrossing, "Menace from Earth", and title story is nothing but That Crap*. What a waste of cool name.

*in fact, entire book is crap and it got redelegated into being permanently in the bathroom as emergency read

I've said this before, but we're on the verge of resorting cants: languages based on specific communities that you're only privy to if you're a part of them. That whole languages will be based on calling people nigger, tranny and faggot just so people can express themselves.
Both.

I don't think you can look at what's happening to CD Projekt Red and have any fundamental desire to interact with these mentally ill nutjobs who belong in an asylum before they cut off their genitals wit a piece of corrugated metal.

I mean, CBR put out a hilarious article about the 'trans friendly' cyberpunk games. You know the one thing they had in common? They had no trannies in them. I mean, its fucking hysterical. You win more points by ignoring them than even remotely attempting to interact with them.

If you just mean direct synonyms like "jogger" then maybe, but for more complex meanings I think there's a difference between words like "nigger", "tranny", "faggot" which more or less have PC synonyms and are just banned as a power move, and words like "simp", "incel", and "virgin" which are harder to succinctly replace. I think the former lose a lot of their power (both edgy appeal and conditioned revulsion) through simple substitution, look at all the digital ink spilled over "hard R".

Yes, words acquire nuance that would be lost by synonyms, but some words would lose more than others.

Also "simp" should stand for "simpering" not "simpleton" jfc

If I want to learn more about resorting cants is there a better term to look up, or a source?

I mean, the definition of cant is literally an underground language. Like for example:

  • ken – house
  • bowsing ken – alehouse
  • lag – water
  • bene – good
  • patrico – priest
  • autem – church
  • darkmans – night
  • glymmer – fire
  • mort – woman
  • cove – man
Cants have absolutely nothing to do with synonyms. It is a language made out of ciphers, to which if you're not a part of the culture, you don't know how to translate. Its not about substitution at all. Its about obfuscating meaning and misleading anyone not a part of that group. 'Jogger' isn't actually a synonym, since synonyms are ubiquitous and recognized. 'Jogger' outside of Kiwifarms will get you looked at as 'what the fuck are you talking about?'. Cants are cryptographic languages. They're specifically made to NOT be synonymous. Their meaning is completely irrelevant and confusing if you aren't part of the community.

Cryptographic languages evolve among small groups of people. For example, polish prisoners in Nazi camps developed their own secret language to talk without the guards knowing what the hell they were speaking about. They're designed to be inaccessible and a lot of times done by people who are outside of society. Rebels, criminals, thieves, prisoners, minority communities....pretty much designed to keep out the 'other'. This is how a lot of insular languages like Romany evolved from established ones. To be incomprehensible to outsiders and to have double and even triple meanings to those in the know or have existed within the group for a long time.

Cants differ from jargon as jargon is generally not hard to learn if you investigate it enough, and jargon generally doesn't evolve completely separate words or language. Jargon operates within a language, while cants are a separate language altogether. Jargon is used as short-hand to communicate complex ideas within professions. Its not meant to obfuscate, like cants or crypto languages are. Note this is the same with synonyms. Synonyms operate within language, they don't externalize it. Cants often have completely odd or strange meanings when an untrained listener hears them.

Like look at the above examples. There's a mix of romance language (bene for good, patrico for priest) and Gaelic (mort, glymmer, ken) in order to create something different and coded.

I'm rather fond of "vimpcel" personally.
