I hesitate to give Vickers any credit, but he has to know, or at least have some understanding (whether explained by his attorney, or his own perception of the situation) that this will be a war of attrition. The Vickers seems to do pretty well with their business. Ralph doesn't have shit. The Vickers - in the long run - are going to end up paying for the demon baby either way. So make Ralph pay by draining him of his funds and further burying his shit reputation. It isn't the best strategy, but it might bring the Vickers some solace. And most importantly, it will be a prolonged nectar mainline for Kiwi's.

Pleading out probably isn't an option for Ralph unless he's allowed to plead nolo contendre. If Ralph is convicted under a plain guilty plea, Faith could collect a subsequent lawsuit against Ralph without much fuss. Under the rules of civil procedure, there exists a concept called "offensive collateral estoppel." To make a longwinded explanation short, essentially what it means is that a civil court will not relitigate the same issue that has already been decided by another court. For instance, the Virginia Code notes that the civil action for revenge porn (§8.01-40.4): "Any person injured by an individual who engaged in conduct that is prohibited under § 18.2-386.1 or 18.2-386.2, whether or not the individual has been charged with or convicted of the alleged violation, may sue therefor and recover compensatory damages, punitive damages, and reasonable attorney fees and costs."
