Apparently, in February, there's an event going on in Pokemon Go. It's all Kanto all the time, but if you pay for the "special research" ticket, you can get a Shiny Mew. This is kind of notable since the only way to have a legit shiny Mew was if you owned a Japanese Pokemon Emerald and had the Faraway Island event on it. That way you could encounter a Mew and SR until it was shiny. You can transfer this Pokemon Go mew to Pokemon Home and from there to Sword and Shield, so I bet a lot of people will buy in.

2021 is going to be the 25th anniversary for pokemon and 15th anniversary for diamond and pearl, so the remake will most likely come then, that and SMT V and Nocturne remaster for the switch, there's gonna be a lot of monster collecting to be done next year

Daaaamn, has Skitty always been this badass?
In Mystery Dungeon, yes.
I decided to continue my nuzlocke today since Norman can be fought right after you beat Flannery.

Did I mention that I evolved SIGSEGV into a Machamp?

This was easier than I expected it to be. Honestly the run has gotten a tad boring - excluding the battles with Wattson and Flannery - because I have not lost any Pokémon since Roxanne, but I suppose I should be happy that I am doing well. I think this will be the turning point in terms of the run's difficulty though, because the rest of the Gyms have Pokémon that my team is vulnerable to at this time.

Based as fuck. SIGSEGV would be proud if he could see this right now.

Quick, someone draw a Machamp in the same fashion as SIG's profile picture, with the laptop and everything.
Y'rang?

I mean come on, gamefreak made no attempt to actually make the game look good, I understand that the switch isnt a powerhouse but its not an excuse. However looking back on gamefreaks history its no wonder why they decided to cut more than half of the pokedex, its a miracle that the game even works.

It’s also worth noting that every Kanto Pokémon‘s Shiny form, even those that were previously unobtainable, will also be available in the event. That’s bound to also be a major draw for players.

Oh, and the transfer from Home to SwSh has a smallish roadblock for those getting their Mythical Pokémon from GO. SwSh automatically blocks GO-obtained Legendary and Mythical Pokémon from being transferred into the game unless you’ve previously had said Legendary or Mythical Pokemon species in your save file already.

Here is what I expect:
  • The VS. Recorder will only be able to record a few battles; you will have to subscribe to Pokémon Home to record more.
  • Most (if not all) of the Legendaries will be shiny-locked.
  • The Underground will stay the same (or even become worse).
  • The trainer's levels will be significantly lower than in the originals (possibly even lower than Platinum).
  • A significant amount of the Dex will be relegated to Pokémon from Kanto (or Sinnohian variants of them).
  • To add to the above point: Dynamaxing will be put in, and even more Kanto Pokémon will be able to use it.
  • To go EVEN FURTHER: Pokémon that do not even need any buffs (i.e. Dynamaxing and Mega Evolutions) will get them.
  • Rowan, Dawn, and Barry will hold your hand way more than in the originals.
  • A "Platinum Episode" is debatable, but if it IS added then it will likely be worse than ORAS' Delta Episode. Hell: they might just give you Giratina.
  • The Battle Frontier will either be nonexistent or cut down from what it once was. Better yet: put down a wooden sign that teases the player about it AGAIN!
  • Any of the events from the originals will either be cut down or removed entirely.
  • Another event for Arceus goes entirely unused again, that or Arceus gets a buff.
  • Any of the above items could be paid DLC.
  • An unusual abundance of Rare Candies and Exp. Candies.
  • The games will somehow be slower than Platinum.
  • The graphics will only be marginally better despite Game Freak have the time needed to make significant improvements.
  • They will somehow manage to make the games linear despite ALL of the games from Gen IV having more exploration than there is now.
  • Forced EXP. All will stay.
I honestly want Game Freak to wait a year or two before even announcing the remakes, but I know that they have deadlines and quotas to meet. Diamond and Pearl were my first games, and I honestly do not have a lot of hope for the remakes given what has been happening in recent years. They know that they do not even have to put in a lot of effort considering Sword and Shield sold like hotcakes despite the loss of content and the controversies that followed.
How do you think they'll handle the amount of HMs you needed to navigate Sinnoh? Especially since field moves have been gone for a generation now.

I imagine the same way they did in SwSh, the bike will get a mountain climbing feature to replace Rock Climb and they'll find some way to do away with waterfalls, or just make it so the bike can climb them.

Oh goodness...you needed six HMs to get through Sinnoh: Cut, Surf, Strength, Rock Smash, Waterfall, and Rock Climb. I think they will just have your bike do everything; they already gave you a surfing bike in Sword and Shield. I can see there being a bike for going up waterfalls too, and one for climbing rocks (like the Acro Bike). As for the other three: they will probably not be needed since a lot of the exploration from the previous games required those HMs. You do not need to cut down trees, move boulders, or smash rocks if they are none of those in the first place; the games have been increasingly linear after all.
Excluding the spinoffs, have the main games ever not been linear? From the entries I've played (FR/LG and B/W) the navigation in the game's have always been a simple trip from point A to point B with the most deviation allowed being certain NPC interactions and the battle frontier.

Up until Gen 5 you actually had some freedom in what order you challenged the Gym Leaders in, at least for the ones that weren't the first or last.

It's more obvious in those "Professor Oak challenges" where you try to catch/evolve the most Pokemon you can obtain before you get a certain badge.
