I would guess laparoscopy - keyhole surgery of the abdomen - for the large one above his belly button and possibly the one to his left side around the same level. Not sure about the others; keyhole surgery would usually involve more than one hole, but it does seem odd that the other scars are longer and thinner than the central one, and I am not a doctor so am unsure as to whether a procedure would involve that many entry points.

The amazon reviews on this book are funny. The detractors just yell book bad! false information! and the good reviews don't even like wholesale accept it or go on about trans people bad. They literally just say it's a nuanced take on an issue that's becoming concerningly hard to discuss and makes you think. The reviews are basically the trans debate in a nutshell. One side concerned, presenting facts, looking at it critically, and being concerned about the medical ethics. The other side just screeches about how the people not wholesale accepting this bullshit are bad.

Banning books only ever brings more attention to the book. Trying to censor anyone with differing opinions is a tactic only used by those who are desperate to exert mass control and it never goes well. People think they're pruning the world and turning it into an echo chamber but this kind of thing really turns more people against you because while they may not speak up about it, they notice.
