Here in Italy every building in the country where ballots are counted is staffed by police officers for security reasons. The elementary school used in my district always has a police officer available at the main door and another one in the atrium.
Would this work in the US? Or would this trigger dangerhairs and troons?

Don't frame this as if it's mutually exclusive. The exact opposite is reality. Anything that would work would trigger dangerhairs and troons.

In reality, I think it would be hard to even get this going because as soon as anybody proposed it, the usual suspects would be screaming about how it's suppressing black voters.
