What a fucking faggot.

Here's my PS5/Series X review. You're paying 500 dollars for an FPS boost cause there isn't anything worth a shit at launch that isn't on a console/PC you already own. 2/10

"My technological illiteracy kept me from getting too excited during lead system architect Mark Cerny’s deep-dive presentation on the PlayStation 5’s innards—I still have no idea what a teraflop is and I refuse to learn"

So they figured this should be the best person to review the PS5...

Imagine getting to experience one of the next-gen consoles well before anyone else is able to but you waste your time whining about social issues that have fuck all to do with what you're reviewing.

It's really fucking sad that the kinds of people who get to have the first taste of these kinds of things are often the ones who least deserve it.

As soon as I saw "review" in quotation marks I knew exactly what this was going to be.

You got your democrat president dude, suck it up and learn to enjoy things. Christ, I'm tired of this hand-wringing guilty conscience consumerism bullshit.

Imagine refusing so hard to learn anything about the industry you're supposedly covering as your job that you don't even understand teraflop is just a computing buzzword that console makers love to throw around and hardly actually means anything other than in incredibly general terms. You never hear this shit in the PC crowd because people actually bother to learn what a gpu is and what a cpu does. If you told this ""journalist"" to download more ram he'd probably ask where the link is.

Tflops are not a buzzword lmao. They are a good metric to compare raw GPU power.

Man, profesional journalists always write a "author's note" and the end of every shit they wrote for obvious reasons.
Kotaku seems always hiring whinning pieces of shit who can't keep steady. It's a motherfucking global page, the world isn't around USA.

They're a complete buzzword when you're trying to explain something in the power increase for "gaming". And how are they much more useful than throwing about ghz/mhz in cpu power?

There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING more important than Biden beating Trump in the election, because racism has finally been defeated and gamers are losing the war.

Mhz/ghz are useless when comparing between different architectures. E.g. a 2000mhz Ampere GPU will have more performance than a 2000mhz Turing GPU.

Also your initial comment that TFLOPS are not used in the PC sphere is completely wrong. Just check out GPU reviews. Your statement that TFLOPS do not tell about gaming performance is nonsense.

Comparing Nvidia vs AMD FLOPS is something that should not be done 1:1 though.

good, you've fucked up 'pro' gaming reviews for childhood me, and console manufacturers have fucked up cheap proprietary pc's for me. I don't have to entertain either, which is good. Let me know when there's a reason to pay attention to anything that happens in the world of games. Hey maybe this xur can stop shivering in the corner and help one person who needs it during covid?

So how are they useful in any way? Using just one company as the reference (Nvidia), they don't even use a general "teraflop" term -
the 3080 reveal says "238 tensor tflops" and "58 raytracing teraflops" How is this averaged into one term when they're two different things? And you won't find teraflops used much on actual specs comparisons because they don't translate over to actual computing power. Comparisons of card processing if you're just going by specs should be comparisons of memory and cores, but what actually matters is how the card works in real tasks. For gaming, running it on various games and comparing performance, and with general tasks how quickly it can render a scene benchmark among other things. Teraflops are just the modern MHZ/GHZ.
